Brian Kennedy At Ibrox Today

Businessman Brian Kennedy has held talks with Rangers manager Ally McCoist and the administrators of the crisis-hit club.

The Sale Sharks Rugby Union club owner lodged an indicative bid to take over the Ibrox club last week.

On Wednesday he attended the Murray Park training ground and Ibrox stadium for talks with Duff and Phelps and Mr McCoist.

The reason for his visit is not known, while previously he has publicly stated he has no interest in buying a football club and said he believed his offer was a "fallback" option should the Blue Knights takeover consortium fail.

He is one of four parties to lodge indicative bids for Rangers so far. All of the offers are not binding, while they also have conditions attached to them.

The funding arrangements for the initial bids, and details of any investment plans, have not yet been revealed

From what I can tell from this guys bid, he doesn't really want to buy the club, he just doesn't want to see us going out of business!!!

The trouble I have with him, he's also said he doesn't like to work in a committee style, so if he did get preferred bidders status, what is it eaxactly he proposes to do with us???

TBH I'm not in favour of "committees" with voting powers or joint owners. Matters tend to be kicked around waiting for this one and that one to appear/vote/decide etc. plus they can argue/fall out or form factions having different agendas. eg fans reps would see things from a football angle while investors could be more profit minded.

I would prefer to have a single owner making decisions having reached them by taking advice from trusted advisors in certain areas. After all, it would be their cash and they would have the only say how it is spent to make the Club successful by way of both onfield and off field success.

Killie works in this way and I think they do well considering their limited fan base and commercial opportunities.

For me so far, I would be happy for Brian Kennedy to advance his bid, but, I would want him to show more eagerness at least.

Any chance he's playing it low-key with all this 'only a fall-back' stuff as some kind of strategy?

The problem is, I've not got a clue what his strategy is. I doubt anyone else does!

Tom Farmer is the owner of Hibs, Rob Petrie runs the club for him. Successfully in financail terms, but he's sold all their best players and they're in a relegation battle with the Pars. I like the idea of Petries job, but at least Tom Farmer is a Leither and he has Hibs survival at heart, even if admitting he's not interested in football.

I think Kennedy has come out with some strange ones, but I'm not saying he's the wrong man, I just want to know more than what I've heard from him up until now.

Killie have a hell of a lot of debt for such a small club. I don't know what their debt is now, but at one point within the past year or so Killie's debt (I remember reading a figure of £15m) wasn't too far behind what ours was.

And Hearts are about £33 million in debt, and they've not got a fraction of our fan base. No wonder Romanov wants out, but he should at least pay his players. I though they were on a last warning for that?

I do get that feeling. It's certainly a very humble approach he's been taking, but Samurai warriors were generally humble too.....
