Legatt - LENNON MUST FACE CRACKDOWN FROM REGAN'S SFA

Recommended Posts

STEWART REGAN has been given a golden opportunity to show just how even handed his Scottish Football Association is.

Though his Hampden boardroom pal, Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell, no doubt will not approve if the SFA do the right thing..

For SFA chief executive, Regan and the hatchet man he brought in to, Compliance Officer, Vincent Lunny, simply have to crack down hard on the seemingly out of control Celtic manager, Neil Lennon.

After all, lawyer Lunny hasnâ??t dilly-dallied when it has come to swinging the axe on other clubs â?? notably Rangers â?? since he was appointed by the Regan-Lawwell SFA.

Now he has got the chance to show everyone how even handed he is and to convince every one that sauce for the goose is, indeed, sauce for the gander.

In the past I have often tried to find a defence for some of Lennonâ??s excesses pointing to the personal and professional courtesy he has extended to me in the past. But recently he has stepped over the line on a number of occasions. Some of the things heâ??s been up to are indefensible.

I still believe that he gets sucked into the vortex of madness and badness which seems to have engulfed the Parkhead club in the last six or seven years and I maintain that much of the madness which swirls around Celtic, damaging the club in England and abroad, including the bigotry of such quasi-para-military groups as the Green Brigade, could be stamped out by head honcho Lawwell.

But the fact is that once again it is Lennon who is out there taking the flak in the firing line, with Lawwell nowhere to be seen or heard.

And there surely must be plenty of the flak coming Lennonâ??s way from the SFA after his outspoken and outrageous comments about referee Willie Collumâ??s decision not to award Celtic a penalty in the fourth minute of added time and to book Anthony Stokes for diving.

Unless of course Lunny uses his expertise as a lawyer to overrule Cup Final official Collumâ??s expertise as a referee and rule that it should have been a spot kick.

That would not surprise me. After all he has already put one whistler in the dock by saying his decision to award a penalty was wrong and the player who went down was not fouled, but dived and must therefore be banned.

Of course the team on the wrong end of Reganâ??s man, lawyerâ??s Lunny rewriting of history, was Rangers. No surprise there, then.

Letâ??s just pause and remember what Lennon said. He called Collumâ??s decision criminal, adding that it was made worse by booking Stokes for diving.

A chargeable offence?

Surely if any other manager spoke out in such intemperate language is would be. But Lennon may believe being manager of Celtic gives him extra protection from the SFA.

Lennon also went on to speculate that he may speak to refereesâ?? chief John Fleming to get his opinion. I do hope Fleming gives him short shrift. Iâ??m pretty certain his predecessor, Hugh Dallas would have.

But remembering what happened to Dallas, fearing Regan, his boardroom pal Lawwell, along with lawyer Lunny, Fleming may be looking over his shoulder and who could blame him for lending a sympathetic ear to Lennonâ??s rantings?

Something else Lennon said was not actionable, but was most certainly objectionable and underlined the complete contempt in which he and Celtic hold all the other clubs.

According to Lennon, the decision by Collum which he described as criminal, cost Celtic the Treble.

REALLY?

So if Celtic had been awarded a penalty they were certain to score. And they were then sure things to go on and win in extra time. That's what Lennon meant.

REALLY?

What a contemptuous statement about Kilmarnock, who so deservedly triumphed.

And what about the Scottish Cup? And the sort of opposition Celtic can expect from either St Mirren or Hearts who they will face in the semi finals?

There was not much respect there for either Saints or Hearts, and not a thought for whoever turns up at Hampden on Scottish Cup Final.

According to Lennon they will be there just provide cannon fodder for Celtic. Just as Kilmarnock were supposed to on Sunday. Except they didnâ??t.

So at least now every other club in Scottish football has been made aware of just how lowly they are regarded by the Celtic manager and by association, looked down on with contempt by Celtic.

Is there anyone who believes Walter Smith would ever have spoken in such a disrespectful way.

Or the late Tommy Burns? For the simple reason they never did.

There isnâ??t anything Peter Lawwellâ??s pal and SFA boardroom colleague, Stewart Regan and hatchet man, lawyer Lunny, can do about that.

But they must make sure that justice is blind and deal with Neil Lennon for the comments he made about referee Willie Collum.

AND.

WHAT you sow, so shall you reap.

And that was never more true than the harvest which failed for Dundee United when Rangers visited Tannadice on Saturday.

Manager Peter Houstonâ??s team may have won three points, but chairman Steven Thomsonâ??s rantings about Rangers cost his club.

Thomson's Dundee United LOST £40,000 on the day.

That is what the unsold 1,800 tickets for the visitorsâ?? stand would have raked in for the hard up Tannadice club. But 1,800 Rangers supporters, unhappy at Dundee United chairman, Thomson, who they see as Peter Lawwellâ??s poodle, hit him where it hurts.

When the Ibrox team went to Inverness recently the tickets available for the away supporters were sold out. Not so at Dundee United, seen as part of the Celtic cabal.

It is a tactic which Rangers supporters will start using on a regular basis to ensure that no club takes Rangers and their fans for mugs, or is seen to appear to collude with Celtic.

Itâ??s a good tactic too.

........

FINALLY........

PHILMACGIOLLABHAIN and Matt McGlone's pal, Channel Four's Alex Thomson is in town preparing his hatchet job on Rangers.

He was prowling around the hall in Govan last night when a BBC Five Live debate on Rangers was broadcast.

Check him out on Twitter for identification purposes should he try his wee sleekit trick anywhere where he isn't welcome.

A polite, you're not welcome here, old chap, please leave, should do the trick.

Excellent news. I don't actually want to see any club die, however this is really the only way as fans we can show our distaste and disgust for the way they treated us recently.

If lemon is not brought to book for his comments about the ref on Sunday, we should seriously consider the option of a petition aganst the SFA for obvious and blantant bias against Rangers FC.

If there was going to be any action taken it would have been announced by now, the SFA are all about swift justice you know.

It's clear now that Celtic are a law unto themselves and Lennon feels comfortable saying the things he does and acting the way he does with impunity. How did it get it come this?

Legatt - LUNNY BACKS LENNON "CRIMINAL" OUTBURST - Exclusive

CELTIC and their employees seem to have been handed complete freedom by Stewart Regan’s Scottish Football Association to behave exactly as the please and say what they like.

And it may look to some like that is the official SFA policy.

Certainly it will be hard for the SFA to correct that impression among many after the bombshell news that Regan’s very own special appointment, Vincent Lunny, will not be taking any action against Celtic manager Neil Lennon.

Lennon, you may recall, branded as criminal, referee Willie Collum's refusal to be duped by Anthony Stokes’ dive and award Celtic a penalty in the fourth minute of added time during the Parkhead club’s Scottish League Cup Final defeat by Kilmarnock.

Forgive me for pointing something out. Something so simple, so straightforward, so logical, so irrefutably legal that it is hard to explain how it has not been realised and acted on by lawyer Lunny.

When someone is accused of a criminal act then they stand accused of being a criminal.

The logical conclusion of what Lennon said about Willie Collum is that the Celtic manager branded the devout Christian and RI teacher at a Roman Catholic school, a criminal

Therefore, by taking no action against Lennon, SFA lawyer Lunny, if not actually endorsing Lennon’s accusation, is at the very least being seen to condone it.

Mind you, it makes a smashing tabloid headline….

LUNNY BACKS LENNY!

Maybe Collum will be sufficiently angered by this latest outrage by the SFA, to take his own action to protect his good name. He could always raise a civil action for defamation of character against Lennon.

That would surely provide more tabloid gold. With Lunny perhaps called to the witness box.

The funny thing is that was Lunny, drafted in, in a hurry by the SFA’s Regan-Lawwell axis after Regan shook up the SFA following moan after moan after moan from Celtic chief executive, Lawwell’s club and those who acted for Celtic, in an effort, Regan said, to produce more obvious fairness.

Or at least I think that’s what Regan said at the time, though the man who talks about lessons being “learnings” isn’t always easy to understand.

No wonder there are now few who have any faith the fairness and even-handedness of the Regan-Lawwell Scottish Football Association and their man, lawyer Lunny.

Sone Aluko doesn’t believe in them. Jim McIntryre doesn’t and I think it’s a fairly safe bet that Motherwell manager Stuart McCall doesn’t either.

It will be interesting to hear what McCall’s got to say about this latest apparent travesty of justice from lawyer Lunny, considering the fact the former Rangers midfielder was found guilty after using language which was a lot less inflammatory than the Lennon “criminal “ Collum outburst.

Maybe McCall will just charge in and let loose with another blast, perhaps even using the word criminal and then use the law of the land to challenge any further attempt by Lunny to punish him, by calling in a top QC.

After all, it’s been done before and it has certainly worked for the club who travelled that route.

Maybe McCall could even be bankrolled by the Managers’ and Coaches’ Association. McCall could even hire Findlay QC. I’d pay good money to see him go head to head with lawyer Lunny.

Which reminds me; we all know which team Donald Findlay QC supports. But what about Vincent Lunny, the Scottish Football Association lawyer? Who does he support?

Daily newspaper reporters who interviewed lawyer Lunny at Hampden last month had the perfect opportunity to ask him when he spoke to them about how he has stopped going to matches for fear of being recognised.

Given that it was lawyer Lunny who brought up the subject, it is beyond me why none of the hacks interviewing him took advantage of the open door to ask the perfectly reasonable and, indeed, pertinent and relevant question.

Now, I don’t profess to know what team lawyer Lunny supports. But when I covered Dumbarton Sheriff Court for the Lennox Herald in the late 1960s and early 70s, his dad, Francis, who was the depute fiscal there at the time, was known as a good Celtic man.

Is it therefore reasonable to assume that having proven to be a chip of the old block when it came to choosing a profession, lawyer Lunny was the same when it came to deciding which team he was going to support?

Not for a moment though am I suggesting lawyer Lunny's football allegiance has, or will, influence any decision he has made or will make.

But it is always best to get these things out into the open. For the sake of the transparency Stewart Regan says he wants for the way the SFA works.

However, whatever team Vincent Lunny does or does not support, his abdication of responsibility and his failure to put Neil Lennon in the dock for the Celtic manager’s “criminal” Collum accusation, further underlines the belief of many that the Scottish Football Association of Stuart Regan and his Hampden boardroom pal, Celtic chief executive, Peter Lawwell, will let Celtic and those employed at Parkhead, get away with anything.

Lemmon will face no charges according to Leggo this morning, don't even know where to start with all this. The bias in favour of The Mhanks is unbelievable and their not even trying to hide it now.

It's time the rest of the managers took a stand or has Liewell got all the chairman running scared.
