Quick Sale Vital and no Europe next season - Administrator statements

Recommended Posts

Can anyone explain to me this part:
"What we don't want to do is mix the terminology here and start to portray liquidation as a process which creates the cessation of the business.

"The liquidation will wind up a business following the sale of the business activities into a newco.

"So in any scenario we would still envisage that Rangers Football Club could play football and operate as a football team.

If someone buys the business activities and creates a newco behind the club as such, would that still be viewed as liquidation of the Rangers as we knew them - with all the consequences of UEFA penalties and possible sanctions by the Scottish authorities? Or would that only take place if the whole club is being wound up and everything sold off?

From what I can gather the answer is YES to both of your questions.

From your David Whitehouse quote I'd also like to point something else out: He could have said "A liquidation would", but instead said "The liquidation will" and this is from a man who was desperately trying to choose his words wisely.

Good question, wonder if there is a similar precedent somewhere?

Might be a daft question, feel free to say it is, but, if Rangers go into liquidation do they in order to re-emerge not have to do what Airdrionians had to do and buy another club (Clydebank) to come back into the picture?

Or is the situation completely different?

When Airdieonians went out of business at the end of the 2001-02 season, Jim Bannatyne formed Airdrie Utd and applied for the vacancy left by Airdrieonians but Gretna were elected.

He then bought Clydebank and as they were still in the League, Airdrie became members automatically and the League approved the "move" to Airdrie.

Don't beleive the nonsense from Chick Young tonight.

If Rangers FC are liquidated it is true that there is no direct route to the SFL3 but of course two teams would move up from SFL1 etc and a new Rangers 2012 could apply to joint the third division.

Think I'll start a mischievous new thread with this.......

I think we need a new thread on that subject BH because I listened to Sportsound again tonight (last night now) and Chick Young was basically just spouting waffle supplied by Doncaster the previous night.

On a sidenote, post-liquidated Airdrie were only able to buy Clydebank and take their league place because Clydebank were also in administration and seeking a buyer if I'm not mistaken.

I wrote it but the site kicked me out (which it seems to do quite often) so I lost it but I'll try again on a WORD doc and then put it up.

Sorry BH, we've been experiencing problems lately. As a rule of thumb it's best to always copy your text before hitting the post button. I even have my own home network causing me to lose posts I've written at times if there's a network issue or someone started downloading something etc.
