Am I the only one who's pissed off about Wylde & Celik?

Recommended Posts

The administrators intention today was redundancies, 11 to be exact, Wylde went 1st followed by Celik I was braced for the next lot and tbh wasn't particularly concerned about the first 2.

If indeed the cull has stopped at Wylde and Celik then we've won a watch. Wylde never excited me as a player for Rangers and I said it many times on here and Celik? What was that guy about? If it had been Aluko and Davis out the door today then I would be devastated.

If we dont win our next match at Tannadice then be prepared for lemon cupping his ears and maybe more when the mhanks come calling the following week then running round our home milking the occasion for what it's worth, I for one don't want that, and if it's just Wylde & Celik we've lost then BRILLIANT!

I would like to add though - hat's off to the Wylde and the other guy for their gesture today.

Gesture? More like rats jumping off a sinking ship IMO. Wylde has a whole bunch of clubs interested in him and I'm sure "Mervan" has no shortage of interest either.

I think we'd be be disappointed regardless what player left, what annoys me most is Whyte forseen this coming why didnt we sell as much players as possible in January and get fees for them then. Now they will be redundant and leave for nothing.

Id rather the club had been upfront during the transfer window and said "we have to sell players" rather than giving a false hope of retaining players plus signing more like Celik and Cousin.

Im a bit confused as to why we cant sell players though, as I thought part of Administration was all about selling assets to raise money. The transfer window cant block what is law??

From a footballing perspective its a shame to lose Wylde, I liked him as a player although Ally was bit reluctant to play him at times preferring a more defensive set up. I can envisage his career being similiar to Burke and will be able to pick up a Championship club. As for Celik, I didnt see the guy play so who knows if its a loss or not.

Wylde is a young lad who most likely hasn't made the football fortune yet. I fully understand why he would leave and I don't hold a grudge about it.

Celik - I hear he is unhappy and I understand why. He has a point about signing players we can't pay, but ultimately as usual this lands with Whyte.

Well, there are a number of issues here and people have obviously various opinions about players seeking and getting a release.

Being pragmatic here, Celik took the opportunity (according to his advisor) and did not accept a 75% pay cut of his 7.5k a week (for probably a months or two?) and became a free agent again. Saves us money and gives him the chance to sign for anyone he likes and who pays him. Strikes you as the typical mercenary approach and his posturing always kept me a bit wary of him. (Have we paid GAIS anything for him thus far?) In the end tough, we did not pay him according to his contract and he's every right to go. Ally wanted to keep him, but he (and his agent) decided against it. Good luck! (On a sidenote, anyone expects a rumour from the Hooped Horrors that he was punted because of his name?)

Wylde said that he was living under so much stress that he could not bear it any longer. He in turn does not strike me as someone looking for the next best deal and I would be surprised if he signs up for anyone else in the near future. After all, we could be out of admin pretty soon again (or not, but just in case) and he would still be a freebie able to be signed up immediately. That said, we now can play Aluko and Kerkar and even Wallace on that wing and all add a very different dimension to the side than the rather straight approach Wylde offered thus far. But here, much like with the stress I mentioned above, people have to consider his age. He's not exactly a full grown adult (are footballers ever?) just yet and a combination of the above might have led him to this decision.

Two promising young players.

We supposedly rejected at least one very good offer for Wylde in recent transfer windows, so the player had a transfer value for us and yet he's been allowed to leave?

I'm pissed off folks. I think the administrators should have started by releasing some of our oldest players. Those two young guys wages combined is not a large amount of money.

The only bid we received for Wylde was £400k. Not pennies but hardly an offer we couldn't refuse.
