Rangers and Dunfermline reach agreement on £85k owed to Pars

Recommended Posts

On a sidenote, does it tell you about the precarious situation with some SPL clubs if ticket income from a (single) Rangers game means that they cannot pay their players in full a month later?

I agree, yet not much is made of it, aside from the point of view that it is OUR fault.

I think there has been a point made that Dunfermline are not a creditor for this money as it was never loaned to Rangers. Rangers were just a holding agent for Dunfermline's money.

It is not a debt - it is their money and it has been argued that withholding it would actually be theft.

I for one am glad we're paying this in full and embarrassed it took so long.

Also, their palyers were not getting paid due to this and other problems they have had.

And despite all the wild reporting that their troubles were solely the fault of Rangers, they publicly made it clear that not being paid by Rangers was only part of their problem, which has now been resolved.

A club should not be relying on the sale of away tickets to pay their staff on a monthly basis. Imagine that most Rangers fans lose interest in the now defunct competition and decide away games are now a waste of money and so do something else instead - does that mean all the teams we play will be struggling to pay their wages?

To me that sounds like mismanagement and so their position, while exacerbated by Rangers, it was not really caused by them.
