if the worst comes

Totally agree pete and that would be one of the major problems. Whenever this subject gets discussed there always seems to be some people who think we'd just strole up through the English leagues and be in the EPL in no time at all. That's absolutely possible obviously as various clubs have shown down there throughout the years, but it's not a common thing to happen by any means. Being realistic, I think we'd need to account for it taking 5 years absolute minimum to work our way up, but potentially far longer.

Not sure I get this at all, seems you are contradicting yourself.

It's absolutely possible as clubs have shown throughout the years. Not a common thing. Will take miniunm 5 years.

Don't get the first two parts there. As for minimum 5 years, I agree with that as there are 4 leagues and play offs etc.

I know I'd rather struggle there than go through the ridiculous situation of playing lower league here (if that happened). I've said before and will say again, less finger pointing and doom and gloom and see what happens. This season is a write off for a number of reasons now.

In saying that obviously having a far bigger budget within our means should see us walk through at least the first few leagues. After that it will be difficult.

We have no money, how would we have a bigger budget?

We would have healthy crowds because we were on a mission. I dare say a special TV deal to watch us progress. And a much less expensive player pool.

And hopefully a means of running our Club (and paying its dues) in a more effective way than present.

All as hypothetical as the rest of the previous statements.

All I meant was that certain teams in the past have risen up through the English leagues quite quickly, but as I said, it's not common and it also depends on your definition of "quickly". I wasn't counting getting out of the leagues below the Football League, I was talking about clubs getting up quickly from the 3rd and 4th tiers.

In the spirit/point of the thread though, I definitely think that if worst came to worst and we were completely screwed over, I'd rather start from the bottom in England, than start from the bottom in Scotland and I think that's basically what the OP was asking for opinions on.

As said above not many or none of the lower league teams will have a support like we will. I am not stupid in thinking we will keep 50.000 in the first years that will probably be more between 10 and 15.000 but it should be enough to get us through the early years. The higher we get the fans will reappear. I know the popular saying is we don't do walking but I certainly don't think we will fill 50.000 seats against Hereford.

OK, if the worse happens and you don't want to talk about all your own asides, we're not going to England. Even via the lower leagues.

The Champioiinship doesn't want us either, the 1st and 2nd might like the idea of our big travelling support, but as it's hard enough to get to Aberdeen and Inverness, how much to you think we'd take to the likes of Chesterfield and Wycome. Not enough to interest them, who will not be popular if they argued for us to come in.

We're just another club that would eventually take somebody else's place and it isn't going to happen
