Rangers game may be off!

Recommended Posts

What statements are scaremongering? All were factually correct.

Strathlclyde Police have never even hinted that the game might be off, how can rumours of the opposite be factually correct? The same goes for season tickets, an assurance has been given that this season and next's season tickets will be safe and valid. It's scaremongering pure and simple.

My understanding is that the police did state informally that they would require assurances of full payment. Edit - see post 14. Seems strange that they have already had a meeting if they weren't hinting that there were issues over the game. ;)

As for the assurances of season tickets - who gave that? Whyte? He doesn't have that power. Only the administrators currently can do that.

If you're able to second-guess the Administrators then great, but I'll wait until they they make the decisions and continue to point out the various options that they have.

This actually fills me with some sense of calm.

The administrators, assuming they are good at their job (and most, to be fair, are good given their backgrounds), are there to seek the best possible solution for the club to maintain its existence and identity.

I am not convinced about Craig Whyte, but independent administrators I feel more of a sense of comfort over.

But how independent are they? It's alleged that David Greir from Duff and Phelps was advising Whyte pre-takeover.

You've actually got a conspiracy theory about the admin team what next Aliens exist.

Anyway the press release say Clark and Whitehouse not Greir or is that a conspiracy as well.

The fact the admin team might be a little more favourable to Rangers should be a good thing not an excuse to have a pop at Whyte again.

David Grier has not been appointed as one of the administrators though. His firm has been retained, but the administrators themselves are Whitehouse and Clark.

Looking at their bios I was somewhat relieved that Clark is a qualified accountant as well as insolvency practitioner. You know as well as I do that he will have ethical standards to uphold. It is highly unlikely that he will put 30+ years of experience down the toilet just for the sake of Craig Whyte.

It is also noticeable that he has a penchant for handing the companies back to management after the turnaround process is complete (not sure we actually WANT this though...).

Paul Clark Bio

A founding partner of MCR, Paul has been a specialist in corporate recovery, restructuring and forensic investigations since 1981.

He qualified at a leading international accountancy practice, where he gained experience in highly regulated sectors, including banking, insurance and environmental.

As a partner in a top 20 accountancy firm, then later in his own practice, Paul broadened his scope of assignments and areas of industry expertise.

Paul brings his reputation for pragmatism on a wide range of assignments. His comprehensive knowledge of the law and best practice is fundamental to his success in developing creative solutions to financial problems. He is regularly asked to investigate substantial frauds.

Much of Paul\'s more recent restructuring work has required detailed knowledge of complex cross border commercial and legal issues. This has included working with a major German construction business as well as some recent assistance provided to a Middle Eastern conglomerate. Closer to home, Paul\'s UK assignments have spanned varied sectors, including manufacturing, distribution, property, retail, leisure and financial services, having recently been appointed Joint Administrator of Weavering Capital, a c$650m hedge fund and acting as Administrator of Folio Hotels.

In early 2007 he became one of the few insolvency practitioners working as a Court appointed Administrator to re-open a business already closed down by its management prior to his involvement. He has also been one of only a small band of practitioners to hand back companies to management following a successful formal insolvency procedure.

Paul has become a leading advisor to the leisure and travel sector. This has included acting as Administrator to Travelscope, one of the largest tour operator failures of the last decade.

As a supporter of the turnaround culture, Paul regularly advises boards on non-insolvency solutions and has taken an active role in many successful turnarounds. He believes in a participative approach involving all stakeholders in the process. He is well known for bringing harmony to apparently insoluble situations. He is well known for his ability to groom businesses for sale in the most beneficial manner achieving the greatest possible recoveries.

Where a formal insolvency is the only or the optimum solution, Paul is able to take the appointment and has proved to be a very successful negotiator in all manner of disputes.

Paul is a Chartered Certified Accountant and a licensed UK Insolvency Practitioner. He also acts as a UK board member of the Turnaround Management Association.

David Whitehouse Bio

A founding partner of the MCR Manchester office, David has over 20 years experience in the corporate restructuring and recovery market. Previously a partner in two leading national firms, David joined MCR in 2007 to set up the Manchester office with Phil Duffy.

David has strong relationships with all the major clearing Banks and has provided creditor advisory services to a broad range of financial institutions, with particular focus upon the asset based lending and banking sectors. He also regularly acts for management of distressed businesses where a consensual solutions based approach to particular

difficulties is required.

David has experience in advising many sectors such as property, manufacturing, transport and haulage, chemicals and professional services.

In recent years, David has led workout projects on a number of secondary and sub prime loan books, and has led assignments in the UK, Continental Europe, The Middle East and North America.

Recently David led the successful restructuring of a substantial North West based property group, with £250m of bank debt provided by nine clearing and investment banks.

David is a licensed UK Insolvency Practitioner. He has co-chaired the Turnaround Workshops for the Institute for Turnaround (IFT) in the North of England, providing real case studies and practical training to professionals involved in the turnaround sector.

It does suggest a relationship, and why where HMRC so keen to get a court appointed administrator? However hopefully there won't be an issue.

Albeit it just a certified accountant. :D
