STV/Gersnet thoughts on transfer window

Recommended Posts

Good stuff Frankie going by McCoists press con today we seem to have a few new players on the radar. Hopefully we don't get the same performance in the transfer market as we did in the summer. I know none of them are huge money buys but that's the market we have to operate in today.

I wouldn't get too excited about spending a great amount of money. We may hope to unearth a gem, but was that what we were trying to do with Ortiz and McKay. It didn't seem to work and if we 'waste' money by signing players that we're not going to play, maybe our title streak will be ended this year.

We've done really well over the past 3+ years, especially considering the financial problems. Now we have a rookie managers and our squad has increased in number, but not necessarily in quality. Maybe we should hope to rebuild in order to get somewhere in Europe and domestically next year if we begin losing again.

Here's another thought there's a thread on FF discussing Rangers moving more towards the european/American general manager style, thereby taking the buying and selling of players out of the head coaches hands. With that the club buys the players it thinks it needs and tells the coach to get the best out of them. You then have some continuity within the club and aren't subject to the whim of a manager who might make a total balls of it leaving you an unholy mess to clean up.

I would not be in favour of that, it would open a whole can of worms.
