Darthter 542
I would agree that the Papac/Wallace combination is generally working well - they provide cover for each other and are able to swap positions. However, the next game is against 2nd division Arbroath.....I would give Wylde a bit of game time for this one. He needs to maintain his development - and he has come on greatly since playing regularly in the 1st team. There is a possibility that the Arbroath defense will not close Wylde down quite as quickly as SPL ones, therefor giving him a bit more time to do things properly.
GovanAllan 0
Wallace for me, hopefully it might get Wylde to get his arse in gear and work on his delivery when on the run. Theres a talent in there but has he the drive and determination to make it better I hope so. Was reading a thread about David Beckham on another site a shining example of a player working his arse off to make the most of what he's got young Wlyde could learn a lot from him.
Danny 0
I know this thread was inspired by me choosing Wylde over Wallace and a few folk disagreeing, but the truth is I completely forgot about Wallace and would have put him in as LB over Papac It's good to have strength on the left. Pity it's lacking elsewhere though.

54andcounting 0
'Bud' Johnston! You must be nearly my age! Actually I remember he used to play more as a second striker for us, with people like Orjan Persson on the actual left wing. Actually 'Bud' took over from Davy Wison on the wing around '66. He played that position in the '67 CWC Final v Bayern. Persson was signed the following season along with a certain Alex Ferguson. In those days (as I'm sure you know) players were allocated jerseys to reflect what part of the field they played, No1-Keeper, 2-right back, 3-left back, 4-right half, 5 centre half, 6-left half, 7-right wing, 8-inside right, 9-centre forward, 10-inside left, 11-left wing, when Persson was signed he went to the No. 11 position (left wing) Johnston was moved to 10 (inside left) simply because he had an eye for goal. Alex Ferguson played centre forward (No.9). We won hee-haw that season. Johnston flirted with the No's 7, 8, 9, 10 & 11 jerseys because of his varsatility, what a player. The following season (1968-69) Ferguson was dumped for Colin Stein, and Persson was still holding on to the No.11 shirt again we won hee-haw. The following year (1969-70) Alex MacDonald was brought to the fore, he took 'Bud's jersey (10) and Bud went back to his rightful left wing position. Again we won hee-haw, but the big turning point came when 16yo Derek Johnstone headed the winner in the '70-'71 league cup final against dominant Celtic under Stein, who since by the way have never been able to match that period in their entire history. 'Big Derek's' goal came from a sweet cross from the right wing, such was Bud's versatility. Anyways Maybe Orjan played left wing, but Willie Johnston was such an inspiration back in those dark days. He delivered our only European Trophy to date, a Rangers legend
Guest Dutchy
Wallace has had bad games as well, admittedly just coming back from injury, but Wylde is our future and we need to develop him. As well as youth need to be shown to get a chance at Ibrox, or they won't even sign for us, never mind feck off at the first re-signing opportunity. Was Bendikson a great player? I don't know, he looked good, at least he was lively in the 3 or so games he had, but off he went as he knew the writing was on the wall for youth players at Ibrox.
