A Very Bad Scenario

Recommended Posts

If I was a bookie calculating the odds on the tax case we would be very heavy odds on favourites to get a result, HMRC for all their front and bravado allied to a good deal of "we are the Revenue what we say is final" are piss poor at these cases their record is abysmal even worse than has been claimed, it is about a 0.7% success rate.

A lot of people and companies are realising that HMRC are subject to the same laws as everyone else, although they like to cultivate the myth that they are above it. My advice to anyone who has a case a good one against HMRC claims/assessments/bully boy tactics is to tell them go take a flying fuck and see them in court, as long as you are certain of your facts.

I'll bear that in mind, last time I just set my MP on them; soon got sorted.

1. Jelavic will be sold in January for £7.5M most likely to QPR.

2. Reason for sale is that in the event of losing the tax case there is no money to pay the wages for the rest of the season (Whyte certainly doesn't have any more money).

Would it not be quite unusual for us to get a large transfer fee like £7.5m in one single payment? I thought Spurs and Villa had paid us installments over a few seasons and they are relatively large clubs in comparison to QPR.

Yes I think you are correct about that but it might suit us to get instalments.

It sort of ruins point #2 about the sale of Jela being to pay the wages for the rest of the season though because an initial instalment of 2 or 3 million wouldn't be enough to cover the wage bill for that length of time.

Perhaps, but Rangers might be able to insist on all or most of the money up front and if not they could use it as collateral. What I am not sure off is whether or not having the asset of money owed would be taken into account in the administration or just any cash in the bank; my accountancy head tells me the former but perhaps Craig or BD would know the answer to that. Also they might be able to get it paid to the holding company which is offshore; not sure if they would get away with that either.

All I can say is that the info about the sale or intended sale was solid (it didn't come from another site) and seemed to be backed up by the apparent offer yesterday.

Does anyone else think that Whyte could be just a front man for maybe Murray or King? I just find it so strange that first Ellis appeared and then came back with Whyte.

Whyte surely has some backers in the offshore company who are not listed as directors but my info is that Ellis doesn't have the dosh. I think Ellis is just a mistake, somehow he conned Whyte into thinking he really knew about this stuff (or maybe Whyte just thought he was useful and he isn't) and he doesn't.

I'll do more digging on the Whyte/Ellis relationship, if there is one.
