I was sitting in the bookies watching the sheep/Hibs game and the guy sitting at the table I was at claimed that Wallace was going 'nowhere'. I think the use of the mass fans makes it look "noisy" Danny. The background image is the first thing. As Craig and others elsewhere told you it's noisy to look at and that's the first problem. The crowd image has a noisy effect in the first place, but It's actually only weird to look at because the image is tiled in a repeat pattern which makes your eyes want to wander around the page. The second issue arises when your eyes get focused on the article content because light text on a dark background creates a high contrast effect which is difficult on the eyes. Glossy mags in the publishing industry tend to use that very sparingly for that reason, so you'll normally only see them do it in small areas like little boxes within a page which contain a photo and description of the photo, that type of thing. The easiest (most pleasing) thing to look at is always dark text on a light background. If you look at Fury's (Chris Graham's) blog - http://chrisgraham76.wordpress.com/2011/12/12/time-for-the-billy-boys-to-grow-up/ you'll notice straight away that it's the polar opposite to yours visually. It's plain, simple, uncluttered and easy on the eye.
