NEIL Lennon has criticised Rangers manager Ally McCoist for referring to incidents involving Celtic players as part of his verbal tirade against the SFAâ??s new disciplinary procedures.

McCoistâ??s anger at the Fast Track Tribunal decision on Thursday to uphold a two-match ban on Rangers winger Sone Aluko saw him outline several instances which he believed exposed the inconsistency of the SFAâ??s decision-making process.

Among them were Celtic forward Georgios Samaras having what McCoist described as a â??fly kickâ? at Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor and an incident earlier this season when Celtic striker Gary Hooper escaped a notice of complaint from the new SFA Compliance Officer for elbowing Motherwell midfielder Steve Jennings.

But Lennon, whose club led the campaign for the SFA to reform their disciplinary system, backed the new Judicial Panel Protocol introduced by Stewart Regan and rebuked McCoist for his comments. â??If he [McCoist] has made inference to my players, then it is really not the right thing to do,â? said Lennon. â??I could sit here and pore over contentious decisions against my players between now and Christmas if I wanted to. I could sit here and pick out instance after instance after instance. But the instances which he referred to were relatively minor.

â??From my point of view, the disciplinary system of the SFA was not good last year. I think we voted for legal representation in these situations, which is now the case. I think it is more neutral now and I think there is no bias towards individuals or clubs. In that respect, I think it is an improvement.â?

McCoist, meanwhile, issued another stiff defence of Sone Aluko yesterday and stressed that the player does not deserve to be pilloried like Rangers team-mate Kyle Lafferty.

The Rangers manager admitted that Lafferty had only himself to blame for incurring the wrath of opposition supporters after an incident with Charlie Mulgrew, then of Aberdeen, over two years ago. Lafferty fell to the ground holding his face as he sought to make it look as though he had been headbutted by Mulgrew. Referee Stuart Dougal issued Mulgrew with a straight red card, though later accused Lafferty of having conned him, while Walter Smith, the then Rangers manager, admitted he had been â??disappointedâ? in the reaction of his own player. McCoist admitted that Lafferty had been â??deservedlyâ? jeered for his actions in May 2009.

â??Lafferty was 100 per cent wrong in what he did,â? McCoist said yesterday. â??I can totally understand opposing fans giving him stick for it.â?

However, the Ibrox manger was still backing Aluko after the playerâ??s two-match ban for simulation during last weekendâ??s 2-1 win over Dunfermline was upheld. McCoist expressed the hope that Aluko would not be dragged down by the controversy or targeted for abuse. He will be spared any vitriol this afternoon when Rangers travel to face Hibernian. The winger will sit out todayâ??s fixture and also next Saturdayâ??s home game against Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

â??He is a lovely lad and I think all the attention has probably come as a surprise to him,â? added McCoist. â??But he will handle it fine. He will have to. There is no other option.â?

As for the level of abuse he might expect to receive, McCoist said: â??I think when we go to most away grounds between now and the end of the season we will find out. Only time will tell. It is not a reputation I think he deserves from what I have seen of him in the short time he has been here at the club.â?

McCoist revealed that he had not heard anything from the Scottish Football Association since his strong words of condemnation aimed at the new fast-track disciplinary system.

â??I stand by everything that I said, but we will draw a line in the sand and move on now,â? he said.

Suprise, suprise, the ginger twat disagreeing and the incidents McCoist referred to were 'minor'. Total joke of a man and a club.

Wish I hadn't read this first thing, it's fair made my blood boil!

Nicely stirring it up for the next OF game. Oh, we will enjoy the hostilities spouted from the slopes of the Scumhut, the maniac behaviour from the folk they call coaching staff ... and next to nothing will be heard by the mhedia, rest assured.

IMHO, we (the club) should blank all talk of and with them.

Way I read Ally's statement after the outcome of the review panel's decisionw as known, was that he could think of a few cases "off the top of his head", and they just happened to involve a couple of decisions that were not reviewed which included Celtic players.

I'm sure if Ally and Lennon were to sit down together they could both come up with impressive dossiers of perceived/actual injustices that have gone for and against them, but the point being that the objectivity that is supposed to be supplied by involving a legal person in the process, has been undermined due to the lack of transparency (we don't know who or why decisions are passed to the CO, nor do we know what criteria he applies to determine whether a decision should be referred to a 3-man panel; we also don't know (officially) who sits on these panels unless they are revealed such as was done by Ally on Thursday) or consistency (apparently similar incidents appear to be arbitrarily referred/acted upon, others are not).

Quite frankly, the sheer ignorance and obfuscation by many, including the SFA and the usual media suspects, on this issue, is breathtaking.

Difference is, as Stewarty said, Ally picked a couple of obvious example off the top of his head. Not all were pro Celtic were they? If the mhanky club commented they would specifically only pick perceived pro Rangers decisions as it suits there warped view of the word.

Edit:

But Lennon, whose club led the campaign for the SFA to reform their disciplinary system, backed the new Judicial Panel Protocol introduced by Stewart Regan and rebuked McCoist for his comments.

Also Lennon and Celtic are happier now that the system is less transparent, has no obvious regulation and appears more partial (anti Rangers/pro Celtic). No wonder they are happy.

"think it is more neutral now and I think there is no bias towards individuals or clubs. In that respect, I think it is an improvement.”

This, in itself, shows how much of a wanker Lennon is.

No, it isnt neutral. When you have O Connor's incident being treated differently from Aluko's for the SAME offence, is is absolutely NOT neutral.

However, the pleasing thing is that Lennon has set a rod for his own back because, to be sure, when a Celtic player is carpeted under this system he wont be able to hold his tongue and he WILL show himself to be a hypocrite.

Lennon = few brain cells

McCoist = sharp as a tack.

I know where my money is on any war of words.

There isn't actually a war of words though, is there? You have Coisty going off on one, and Lennon being asked to comment on it by the media.
