RST Board expresses unequivocal support for Ally McCoist

The Board of the Rangers Supporters Trust expresses unequivocal support for the club's manager Ally McCoist in questioning the conduct of the Compliance Officer and Judicial Panel.

There is no evidence or transparency about how the Compliance Officer, who does not have a football background, decides which cases merit his attention.

We also consider that the Club's current dispute with the BBC has led to employees of the Corporation using every available opportunity to denigrate, undermine or attack Rangers FC, including focusing disproportionate and undue attention on the Club.

The Scottish sporting media has obvious and considerable influence in directing attention to certain cases and without transparency and accountability the Trust Board believes that the Rangers support will continue to have no confidence in either the Compliance Officer or the Judicial Panel.

This mistrust is being aggravated by SFA Chief Executive Stewart Regan's unwillingness to discuss this publicly; an unwillingness which includes blocking pertinent questions on this to his Twitter account, including one from an RST Board member.

The Trust considers that confidence must be restored by greater transparency and accountability and has therefore written to the SFA asking the following questions:

What qualifications in relation to footballing matters does the compliance officer have?

What is the decision-making process by which the compliance officer recommends an incident to the panel?

How can a player receive a fair hearing from a panel already have been influenced by hysterical and partisan media coverage?

How did the panel find Sone Aluko guilty, despite themselves conceding there had been contact?

Why is the player being given a relatively severe punishment for something the panel themselves deemed a refereeing error?

Who has the greater authority in the game: the referee or the compliance officer?

Would be good to see/hear the RST and other supporters groups get some interviews in print and on radio openly questioning the SFA's new disciplinary process as well as backing up Ally. I can't see it changing this year but there are some fundamental flaws in the way it has been designed.
