Matt McKay is hoping the next few months can produce an interrupted run of games with Scottish giants Rangers.

The 28-year old former Brisbane Roar captain has managed just three appearances for â??Gers since his arrival at Ibrox but he feels that missing out on the next Australian match will allow him to focus on club duties and cement his spot â?? wherever that may be â?? in Ally McCoistâ??s starting eleven.

"I'm hoping for a proper run at Rangers now without the travel and will try to help the team as much as I can, McKay told the Daily Record.

"The fans have still to see the real me. I've been playing in different positions so they will only see what I'm capable of after a run of matches in the side.

"I have to work hard and wait for my chance. I love playing central midfield but we have some great players in there so I need to bide my time. I played an advanced role the other week but that's a new position to me. I'm happy to play anywhere because I am versatile for the national team too.

"I've been asked to fill a variety of roles, even at left-back, so it leaves options open. Left of centre is the position I most enjoy though."

I said in a previous thread, I'd either like to see Davis dropped (on recent form) or moved to RM and allow McKay his chance to show what he can do. I think he looks a cracking player.

This could go for or against depending on the Aluko outcome and if McCoist will be brave enough to either a) drop him or b) stick him on his 'not favourite' RM.

Well McKay is certainly not ready for the scrapheap just yet and yes, he needs a run in the team.

if he can't play in any other position while he's 'acclimatising', move Davis to the right and stick him in the middle.

I'm sure McKay will come good in time, we didn't sign him because we thought it might have been a 'good idea at the time'.

I just don't think he's a very good player in the first place.

Danny, not meaning to disrespect your opintions, but do you think anyone we sign is any good???

Of the 8 transfers we made in the summer, I don't rate 3 of them (McKay, Bedoya and Ortiz). The other 5 have enhanced the squad significantly.

My issue with McKay is a 28 year old who had never played outside of a very weak Aussie league. There was no evidence he was a quality player and I think his signing was a misjudgement. That said, I'd be happy to be proven wrong, and he has barely featured (which in itself kinda tells half a story).

How do you know?,have you seen a lot of him?. I don't know if he's a good player or not as I haven't seen enough of him. He did however win Oz player of the year so he must have something right?.

Well we did buy him and he's hardly featured, you said yourself. Don't you think we should at least give him a go to find out if he can be a Rangers player, or should we all take the view that he's from crap, he's a crap player and by implication, Ally's a crap judge of players?

I say give him a chance.

Rothen had a good first game with us, then he proved to be rotten, don't you agree the opposite could happen with the rubbish McKay?

Wow, I give credit to Ally for making 5 or 6 excellent signings, and you both ignore all that and leap on the fact I don't rate the minority of signings.

Methinks you're both looking for an argument where there isn't one.
