Last Chance to Complete the Supporters Direct Scotland Survey

Recommended Posts

I think it is relevant. OF fans make up around 50% of fans who attend senior football, and if the survey response from them is minimal then it is not representative of the people who attend games.

That means apathy is the winner.

On FF it has had 2 replies and is on page 2 already.

I dont see how the response previously of 5000 can be described as a success. It's a tiny minority in the grand scheme of all fans attending and watching Scottish football.

I'm not a fan of this in general but as it will purport to represent the views of the average Scottish fan we need to ensure as many Rangers respondents as possible. Whilst it will likely represent a tiny minority of fans it wont stop people (media, politicians, those in charge of our football) potentially paying it more attention than they should.

As such we need to ensure as much of a Gers influence on it as possible.

Done BH hope it makes a difference.

Any of you want to share your innovative ideas would make for a great thread?

I think there is a real need to get a good reserve league started again. I know the clubs claim they can't afford it but they seem to be playing plenty of bounce games.

If the travel costs are the problem make the leagues regional and across all the leagues so you would have North, South, East, and West the winners of the four leagues coming together for a sort of grand final playoff at the end of the season to see who is the champion.

I can assure you it WILL make a difference.

The SDS survey last year highlighted 90% against the 10 team league and 86%? in favour of 16/18. The fan's views were quoted by ICT, Kilmarnock and Dundee Utd as being instrumental in their decision to oppose the change. The SPL now regularly consult SDS on major issues.

SDS are permanent members of the JRG.

I also don't agree with the question about the team you support.

Should not come into it.

The reason for that is to give a guide as to whether the survey is truly representative.

It will be interesting to know if fans of different teams have different opinions about league size redistribution of wealth etc.

There were some arguments along these lines last year and I posted a reply from the company that did the analysis. I am not a statistician but the gist of it is that it is indeed highly representative, it is about a 3% sample of Scottish football fans. I understand that once you get past a certain number of responses the results don't tend to vary that much.

Last year the results were only broken down per league, the more detailed questions this time are designed to make it possible to do more analysis on the results.

There have been almost 1,500 respondents up to 7.30pm tonight, thanks to all who have responded and spread the word.

That's a good response! Is it getting posted on all of the forums for SPL clubs?

The total is now up to about 1,900 with just over 40% leaving an email address and thereby joining the new Scottish Football Supporters Network (SFSN)

It has gone out to all the Club Trusts and about 100 supporters organisations.

It is on a number of Tweets (is that the right exprsssion?) now including Richard Gordon and the SFA.

A Press Release will be issued in time for the weekend press.
