Darthter 542
Rangers pull plug on deal for Nigerian trialist Michael Uchebo.. but player's club think £1m move is onJan 27 2012 RANGERS boss Ally McCoist turned away another trialist after just one training session yesterday – only for the player’s club to then claim his £1million transfer could be completed today. Record Sport understands the Ibrox manager instantly ruled out sanctioning a move for Nigerian striker Michael Uchebo after assessing the 21-year-old in person at Murray Park. The African only checked in yesterday morning and had hoped to prove his credentials over the next few days as a possible cut-price replacement for talisman Nikica Jelavic if he is sold. Although McCoist is bracing himself for another bid for his top-scoring Croat, the Ibrox club confirmed last night that the 6ft 6in Uchebo would not be invited back by the manager for a second day’s training. But that came as a surprise to his bosses at Dutch club VVV Venlo who insisted that a fee of around £1m had been agreed and that his move should be rubber-stamped after a medical today. Uchebo has turned down a new deal at Venlo and is looking to increase his current £8000-a-week wage. And, despite being told of McCoist’s lack of interest in the African last night, managing director Hans Soentjens told journalists: “Rangers really, really want him. “We have reached a verbal agreement with them over a price. We are simply awaiting the outcome of a medical before completing the deal.” McCoist, though, left Murray Park yesterday believing Uchebo was on his way home to Holland snippet from the Record... Gazza_8 233
Jelavic misses training again today. I really hope someone offers us what we're after for him. He's a waste of space the now and acting totally unprofessional........if he isn't injured of course. He's serving no purpose being a Rangers player just now. Juancornetto 1
He wouldn't have played this weekend anyway, no point in picking up an injury this close to the window closing so I think it's just common sense from both Jelavic and the club to be honest. Hope the CSKA story is true and we get proper money for him, they've just sold Wagner Love for about £8m so are short of a striker and have money to spend (as always).
