All Transfer Rumours and silly season stuff

Why only mention the two players who haven't made it yet for us? Why not mention Boca and Goian who were also signed, like Bedoya and McKay, without being trialed?

The vast majority of trialists are trialists because they're not good enough to be signed without being trialed.

Why make the assumption that every trialist isnt signed when that is blatantly not the case ?

Not sure what you are proving in your final sentence other than that is exactly what I have been saying.... it makes perfect business sense to trial someone if you dont know the quality they bring.

I never said there was anythung wring with bringing players in on trial. Jumping the gun and twisting my worss there.

Then why keep throwing out the "enjoy it while you can, it wont last" quotes ? What is the point ?

There was also the Argentinian trialist, Abelairas Craig. Reportedly a talented midfielder and former River Plate player... We probably didn't offer him a good enough deal. It was one of those slightly exciting ones where I was thinking wow, maybe we'll sign a cracking player here, but we didn't even sign him, so that was that.

Did we not also have a Scandinavian guy on trial or am I making that up.

Funny surname for an Argentinian - Craig sounds more British than Argentinian...... ahhhhh, his surname was Abelairas and you were referring to me, lol.

I do remember him now. But that one was, if we are to believe the reports, one which we wanted to sign and simply couldnt agree terms. That would be considered a successful trial, would it not ?

Successful trial for who? It wasn't successful for the club and it wasn't successful for the player. You can't make a success out of something where there's no success unless you're talking about just the success of managing to get an Argentinian on trial here.

The trial itself was successful. The club wanted him. The fact that they couldnt agree on a financial package doesnt make the trial itself a failure. I see what you are saying but I dont agree - the purpose of the trial is to determine if a player is good enough or not. The club deemed he was. That means, to me, the trial was successful - the contract negotiations are not part of the trial.

And who does your version of a successful trial benefit? It might benefit the player slightly, but not much and it certainly doesn't benefit Rangers. That's not a successful trial in my books.

You are not reading what I am saying. Either that or you just dont agree, which is fair enough.

If the club wish to sign someone who has been on trial then that is a success, in my opinion. The financial dealings in trying to get the player to sign a contract thereafter is nothing to do with the trial. So if the player doesnt sign a contract then it is the contract negotiations which failed, not the trial.

Anyway.... this is a transfer rumours thread and der Berliner will be beating us with a stick if we dont get back on track....
