Rangers FC Group Ltd settles Fyfe Ireland legal bill

Recommended Posts

The parent company of Rangers - the Rangers FC Group Ltd - will not face court action over an allegation of an unpaid bill to Fyfe Ireland solicitors.

The Edinburgh based firm was due to raise a small claims action at Edinburgh Sheriff Court for an alleged unpaid sum, believed to be £1,260.

The action has now been dismissed after the matter was settled out of court.

It is believed that the matter has been settled to the satisfaction of Fyfe Ireland and the bill has been paid.

We'll never know what the hold-up actually was, so we can only speculate. It was sure a nice headline raiser and a chance of the BBC to spout negative headlines ones more. Hence, it should have been avoided. That said, FI's Celtic-minded employee(s) might have made sure that any hold up would have ended in the press somewhere / sometime.

There is not a big company anywhere in the UK that does not have small claims raised against them on a daily basis. This was just a small firm looking for their 15 minutes of fame and a bandwagon to jump on. I hope Rangers do not conduct any future business with them.

You raise a good point Kenzie.

Some of these legal firms will be looking for the "spotlight" of having done work for an institution such as Rangers. They probably know that they are unlikely to get any more work from them so why not pursue an expense in public to show people that you have represented one of Scotland's biggest institutions.
