Leggat - cosgrove's sick durrant joke on bbc

Recommended Posts

Cosgrove lost his discipline on Saturday. After the comment to Richard Gordon, he went off on a rant about Team GB in the upcoming Olympic Games. He noted Gareth Bale posing in the proposed strip and wondered aloud, "will Stuart Pearce be able to find a soft Scot willing to participate in Team GB"? He goes round the panel, getting more garrulous and demanding to know if they would participate? Interesting, you are damned if you articulate your comfort at being both Scottish and British. You are "soft", "a sell out", and, "an uncle tom".

I have no problem with Cosgrove being a long term SNP member but when he lapses into uber-nationalism, he should be tempered by his Producer. It's easy, Cosgrove is a hypocrite. He is demanding no truck with Team GB whilst broadcasting on the BRITISH Broadcasting Corporation. If it's such a strongly held principle, then he will refrain, won't he? I mean, Stuart Cosgrove PHD, Board member of several utility companies, Channel 4 regional gaffer, ...... etc is a principled bloke, isn't he?

Cosgrove has always been like this, and for someone that like to regard himself as something of an intellectual he doesn't half talk some shite.

Of course, they can easily get away with it under the guise of comedic comment and the introduction of their show as the most petty and ill-informed show on radio, which says it all in fact.

I had a cut out of one of Cosgrove's articles in the Daily Record where he slagged of the OF for being too dominate within Scottish football and his promise never ever to mention them again as that is only the oxygen of publicy for the big two. Well not only has he constantly commented on the whiles of both the OF since that day, about 10 years ago, but the fact remains, if he didn't mention the OF, he wouldn't have any material to talk about.
