Piers Morgan's Life Stories: Paul Gascoigne

Recommended Posts

I find it quite easy to separate Gazza's personal failings with what he achieved as a football player.

Let's make no mistake - Gascoigne was the most famous player we've ever signed (or likely to sign). He was a truly world class midfield player who did a fine job at Rangers. Yes, he perhaps didn't do enough on the European stage at club level but he was still a prodigious talent. One I'll forever remember starring for the Rangers.

Off-the-park, well that's a completely different matter and it's a shame that the guy couldn't control his alcoholism but he's admitted his failings very clearly (the tears in his eyes as he called himself a prick were full of regret) so I can only hope he manages to move forward with his life.
