ian1964 10,761
CELTIC are closing in on a stunning swoop for James McFadden. Record Sport can reveal the Scotland star and his representatives have held talks with Parkhead powerbrokers in the past 48 hours. It's understood all parties are happy with the way negotiations are progressing and a highly lucrative deal could be tied up today for the 28-year-old striker. Celtic McFadden has been out of football since the summer when his contract expired at Birmingham City. They didn't renew his deal after he injured his cruciate ligament last season. But he has now fully recovered and has received offers from Everton, Wolves and West Ham. However, he does favour a move back to Scotland and the chance to play for his boyhood heroes suits him perfectly. Hoops gaffer Neil Lennon is desperate to land Faddy to boost his squad as they bid to try and catch up on Rangers' 10-point lead at the top of the table. If the McFadden deal is clinched today, it will be the ideal gift for the frustrated Celtic supporters as they head along to Parkhead tomorrow for the club's AGM. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/2011/10/13/celtic-close-in-on-swoop-for-scotland-star-james-mcfadden-86908-23485447/
Gribz 919
Always wanted McFadden at Ibrox in the past and would have part dreaded him going to Celtic about 4 years ago. But doesnt seem to have been the same player in the last 2 years so wouldnt be worried about Celtic signing him now.
Gazza_8 233
CELTIC are closing in on a stunning swoop for James McFadden. Or not. A player who has bags of potential, or did have bags of potential but has been pish since he moved to Birmingham. Mind you, that could have something to do playing under Eck and his boring tactics.
Jim1955 12
Stv sport are now linking a possible move for Mcfadden to Celtic and a move for Hooper to Newcastle. If both are true and come off then I can't see it hurting us.
johnnyk 158
For the wages he will want he is certainly not worth it. Didn't he turn down £50k+ a week from wolves recently? Injury prone, overrated and very inconsistent player IMO. Isn't it their AGM soon Edited October 13, 2011 by johnnyk
Guest Dutchy
As farasI'm concerned, it's just another player for lemon to chop and change with. I keep hearing how their big squad makes them a better team, but with just 3-4 regulars out injured at the moment, they're falling behind quite a bit already. A couple of more points on the board beore we do have any sort of dip in form should do us well. They can sign as many as they want, they all seem not to be able to do it for lemon.
Craigy1881 79
I have no problem with McFadden signing for Celtic, never rated him to be honest and in the last few years he has been terrible. Celtic fans must be concerned about this stat OptaJoe Opta Sports 3 - Only once before has either Old Firm team lost three of their first nine SPL games: Rangers in 05/06 when they finished third. Ergatrude 0
I'd only worry about him in Old Firm games, he does have a tendency to produce goals when it matters.

Nae bother, let him score... so long as we are winning 4-2 at the time Naismith, Jelavic & even big Lafferty have a tendency to produce goals when it matters
