No-One Likes Us We Dont Care

Havn't posted a new thread on here for a while, got a wee drink in me and feeling in cloud nine.

I've been a 'Ger for of all my long life since my dad took me to Ibrox for the first time back in the sixties and right now I'm so excited about this 2011-12 season. OK we are out of the CL and have been dumped out the 'Rangers' cup by Falkirk, but hey 10 points clear and the sun is still shining f**k me, I'm feeling so proud.

I watched players like Greig, Henderson, Baxter and Caldow, in my youth I suffered the 9 in a row, my first cup final was a 4-0 drubbing by you know who, the first time I saw Rangers lift a cup was when 'Big Derek' headed the winner at Hampden in the League Cup Final.

I went along with my dad to Barcelona in '72 and I'll never forget those two days in Spain especially as my favourite player of ALL time 'Bud' Johnston scored two goals. The Scottish Cup Final v Hearts in 1986 when Derek scored the opener when I was making my way through the heaving crowd to get to my usual place at kick-off - I'm telling you, I had to scramble over a wall to get in to Hampden then as the doors were 'locked' many many fans did the same.

I was there when Septic won everything....then we got Souness. I know some on here have no time for him, but the years before him were 'dark' he brought in Walter, then.....Butcher, Woods, Roberts, all Englishmen but we loved it....Durrant, McCoist, Ferguson, what a mix, other greats followed - McCall, Gough, Stevens, Robertson, Munro, 'The Goalie', Bomber, Lauders, Gazza, Albertz, van Bronckhorst I'd be here all night if I tried to list that great era........

Anyway, I've got a feeling about this present squad....Anyone for 9 in a row?

As I said 'Im proud to be a Ger' (and Im pissed, so what?) 10 points clear, that is really something.

It's not really a thread you can respond to...but, f**k it, WATP!

54andcounting must be about your age as well. ;) Don't worry I'm in the same club.

Beating the mighty Bayern Munich with Franz Beckenbauer was another top point for me. Kai Johansen's goal to win the Scottish cup also stood out for me as it was one of the better memories of that time. Although I wasn't at that game not being allowed to go to old firm games at that age it stands out in my memory.

Getting beat 3-1 by the mighty Ajax in the Super cup also stands out in my memory as Ajax were a class apart at that time with Johan Cruiff totally brilliant.

Ah Memories. I had the same trouble after the Ibrox disaster, I wasn't allowed to travel to Glasgow to see Rangers, so I had to contend myself with Tynie and Easter Road. But not for long as I moaned a lot and there was an arrangement made with the supporters bus to take me to my first game at Ibrox.

Funnily enough, it was on a Sunday, against the sheep. Glasgow looked closed that day as it was dull grey day and a boring 1-1 to boot, but it was the beginning of a fantastic decade. The 70's were good to us.
