Ally Proved Me Wrong

Recommended Posts

What a ridiculous comment. If we won two more games 4 seasons ago we' have won the league. If we never lost to Killie at Ibrox in 1998 we'd have won 10IAR. If Brewster never scored against us in the 1994 Scottish Cup Final we might've won the treble for a 2nd successive season. If Hearts never scored against us on the opening game of the season we'd have won.

As others have hinted I think you've got the wrong end of the stick here, I was referring to the change in attitude and performance between then and now. I wasn't doing an ifs and buts routine.

OK I did get the wrong end of the stick.

However, who's to say that the attitude and performance of the Malmo players hasn't improved? You go through ruts during a season, you hit the highs and the lows. Every team is the same, well most anyway.

This is also true, I'm not into the whole summer football bleating but if you equate it with us going into a Euro qualifier in October after playing 7 or 8 games at home (including an Old Firm) you can see what kind of advantage it gives "summer" teams. Against Maribor we were just pish.

I still think 4-4-2 leaves us short in midfield. We can usually get away with it in the the SPL right enough.

I thought first half Sunday we hit too many long balls, whether because of being short in midfield, I'm not sure. But it is a fault in our play I wish we could eliminate.

I see what you're saying mate and agree to an extent that we play too many long balls at times, however maybe it was just to put the pressure on the BHEASTS CBs',allowing Jelavic & Lafferty to ruffle them up a bit?. I'm like you though I'd rather see less long balls,in fact if there is one criticism at AM it is how so often he prefers to launch the ball up the pitch more than roll the ball or throw the ball out to a Rangers player

No-one like the long ball game, but sometimes it can be good to put a wee bit of pressure on the opposition but the most important thing for me is you can get a look at how they oppostion is moving about when having to come back at you. It takes time to get into a match, especially when you're up against a team that has a 50-50 chance of beating you.

I think it's a good tactic to see what they have to offer.

....for what it's worth, Celtic weren't too much a problem for Rangers on Sunday simply because THEY were shite. I think the main aim is for 'Gers to concentrate on all clubs in Scotland, we will slip up somewhere like always happens and Celtic will recover from the mauling they got and take Aberdeen for example to the cleaners, it's not set in stone, if it was then Lemon would be looking for another job....if McCoist seriously wants this league title he'll get it, but don't sit back and expect it. There will be as always, twists and turns, regardless.

What do I think? CHAMPIONIS!!! WATP! 4-IN-A-ROW!....Am I getting carried away?

I have to disagree that they were shite because I think it's just that we were outstanding in the second half. At half time none of us were happy and none of us knew which way it would go, but as that second half unfolded we just took them apart. At 3-2 it could still have ended in a draw, but it never looked like it would.

Agree with this, having watched the game again, I must say both teams were rubbish in the first half. As I have said, we hit far too many long balls, can't agree with this at all, never good to give the ball away.

Second half we were as good as I have seen us for quite a while, especially in these games. Their full backs were crap and we ran them ragged.

As we've all been saying for a few years go at Celtic you will cause them problems. We started well got the goal then sat back a bit let them pass the ball about we know what happened. Second half full court press for the full 45 mins and we hammered them never seen a more one sided half against them. Been his loudest critic but special mention to The Wylde Thing in the second half he was outstanding never wasted a ball got it in early to a Rangers player everytime keep it up young man.

I don't necessarily agree with this as at HT, I was in no fear of us being defeated. septic did have chances though as they are the second best team in Scotland, so the game went much as I would have expected.

Except for the amount of fantastic goals. That was a great bonus and I can't see them recovering enough from this footballing lesson. Their only tactic seems to be that they're put upon, which is just an excuse for th realisation that they've never done anything, except win Ye Olde European Cup. a long, long time ago I might add, but win it they did. That's a fact of history.

PS, GA, I'm glad you're finally warming to Wylde, he'll probably still have a stinker now and again, but at least on Sunday, he showed what he was capable of and I'm confident Ally will nurture this great talent to his full potential.
