Ally Proved Me Wrong

Recommended Posts

I posted this last week.

'McCoist has been trying to get McCulloch fit, a wee while last week, and a bounce game yesterday.

I'm with Frankie, I think he will go with 5 across midfield, more trying not to get beat, than going for a win.

Prove me wrong Ally'

You just went and done it Ally.

I thought it was a brave call, well done.

I was dreading the thought of Ally playing Jig in a 5 man defensive midfield and us having our backs to the wall for long periods, but thankfully he went with an attacking line-up and asked the lads to have a real go at them and it worked out brilliantly.

The saying: "You never change a running system!" holds true on various levels. I wouldn't have been surprised that had we played at the Scumhut, McCulloch would have been through the middle too. At Ibrox Ally knew that it is far better to attack them rather than breaking them up and hope for the counter strike.

We've simply have got to utilize the attackers we've got and now that they are almost back to what they are capable of, it was probably his easiest choice. IMHO, he will have been more concerned with our OF rookie-centre halfs. Methinks it is - for the time being - save to say that Walter has trained Ally's eye for a good centre half, for both have been really impressive of late ... and all in all you would have hoped that we entered the European trials these days and not 6 weeks ago.

I think yesterdays game is proof positive that we're far better playing 4-4-2 in a domestic arena, things may change in europe, but that's for next yeaar now.

Just look how much the players enjoyed getting goals. Our backs look good, one goal conceeded, and were up trying to score as well.

I'm really, really glad all our detractors think we don't play good football. Really happy about that aspect of it.

I'd still occasionally try an even more cavalier approach in home games against weaker opposition, with three at the back and a attack-minded 5-man midfield. Once the damage is done, we can settle back somewhat and give other players a run in the team and change the system back to "normal".

McCoist hadnt filled me with confidence up till sunday but he got it spot on yesterday. Whats more all the players turned up as well, which was the difference between the two teams.

The squad is starting to settle and can only go from strength to strength from here. We actually have a decent squad and have cover all over the park.

Bring it on i say!!!!!!!!!

Agree that this was a much better performance but to say Ally proved me wrong at this moment is going a little far. The league is won in April and not in September I can't believe some people are saying the league is over while nearly every year over the last few years the team that has come from second place has become champions. Yes let us enjoy yesterday's performance but let's not get to carried away with one result. Unfortunately another thing that happened a few times over the last few season is that we lost the next game after the OF game and threw away the gained advantage.

One thing I wouldn't advocate is sitting back when we take a lead. Yes, we can take it easier, but goals may be significant, so I'd say go for goals. The fear factor could be enough to beat teams if they know we're a living, breathing, killig machine.

All out attack at all times. Good training for Europe next year.

I agree Dutchy, its time we made teams scared to play us again as they know we are going to attack them and score goals. We've got so many attack minded players now.
