Pat nevin sickened by â??bigotedâ?? fans

Recommended Posts

He's one of the few who is willing to go public with the issue. What other journalist or pundit has EVER mentioned it at half time in a TV studio during a match, because I can't think of any?

I think what needs to be considered to answer your question is that the media are now specifically trying to highlight this stuff because they're being told to by their bosses. There's a completely different approach now to crowd monitoring which also involves journalists and pundits actually highlighting and commenting on the songs being sung instead of just ignoring them.

It's a major embarrassment to Celtic as it goes against the party line that they don't have a problem of any sort.

They won't change that party line because of Pat Nevin though. They're not likely to all of a sudden concede that IRA & PIRA support amongst their fans is sectarian in nature. They're just going to make sure that Nevin goes down as being mistaken in his definition of what's sectarian and maintain their bullshit stance about it being political.

As for him not doing it in the past, people change. I would guess many bears' views on what is and is not acceptable have changed in the past 25 years.

Of course people change, but I think in this case it's more a case of the media and people working in the media being told to change by those higher powers trumpeting the anti-sectarianism agenda politically.
