A cure for Scottish footballs impotence

Recommended Posts

After another premature exit from the Champions League qualifiers for Rangers, it isn’t just the Light Blues fans that should be embarrassed today but Scottish supporters in general.

Not been online for a few days but thought I'd share this article from STV with you chaps. :)

Yeah, read that earlier this morning. I don't understand the mentality of beleiving that everyone is better than us, but it certainly seems to be a factor. I'd rather we play with a bit of gusto and if we get put out, it's not much diffirent from what happens now. But we have just as good a chance of winning if we have a go.

Less than 29k fans turned up for Rangers v Malmo at Ibrox. Half empty stadium, shite atmosphere and a terrible end result. Why then you have to ask, was Ibrox almost full for an essentially meaningless friendly today??? Are there 15 thousand Rangers fans who'd rather go to Ibrox to watch Chelsea than go to Ibrox to support Rangers in a Champions League qualifier? Something doesn't quite make sense.

I know this is slightly off topic , but my mates who are Brighton fans , have been inside the new ground since noon , drinking , the bars are kept open till 7.30 when the leeds game finishes (they are all watching on the tv monitors ) , there is a band on every home game to entertain those that want to stay behind, talk about looking after the fans

Saw Brighton's new ground looks nice. They are very welcoming to the away fans, on Football focus they bring in the away teams home brewed beer.

I think any article criticising Scottish football because of our exit is a bit knee jerk. We were the better team in the second leg, and the only thing I bemoan is our awful discipline which cost us dearly.

I have no complaints about the management, and the players generally played their finest match this season so far, but for some stupid moments we would have made the final play off round.

So I feel anything which looks at deeper problems on the back of our exit is a bit misguided on this occasion.

imo of course.

A summer weeknight is probably less attractive than a weekend. My Twitter is full of folk who went today. I don't think half of these people went to Malmo.

My sister's other half went to this one today, and didn't make the CL game.

I guess Malmo was about the true supporters, and today was a glamour friendly against a shiny Chelsea team which attracted far more fans.

With respect this article alludes to poor performance from a variety of clubs and the national team over a number of years.

As such it's not really accurate to suggest it is a knee jerk reaction to one result.

They'll be having a party then seeing as their team shocked Doncaster with 2 late goals. :)

I wondered why on earth you were defending it so vigorously, then I realised you wrote it :P
