Rangers Scouting System

Recommended Posts

Lifted this from FF:

I put up a post the other day about players i recommended to Rangers, honestly didnt expect anything back and couldnt believe my eyes when i checked my emails 5mins ago and saw an email from Gordon.

Dear XXXXX

Many thanks for your letter and list of players that you are recommending to us. It is a good market in Turkey with a great deal of enthusiasm for the game. I have passed your list on to Neil Murray and he will make the relevant enquiries into the players and facilitate any possible match footage we can get to back up the CVs.

Thanks again for taking the trouble to contact us and please get in touch once the season starts and things calm down a bit and we can have a coffee together at Murray Park.

Very best wishes

Gordon

If this is real then you have to admire GS for replying and taking a bit of interest.

A response is very good indeed. I would have thought it would be passed to a shredder and the scouts/directors say "what do they know".

Any idea on players he mentioned?

Player Recommendations

Lamine Gassama - French Under 21 International out of contract with Lyon. Lamine is a powerful defender who plays at right back and can also play centre half. Athletic and powerful and good on the ball. Has champions league experience and attracting interest from The premiership. Been able to play in a couple of decisions is another thing to look at as well.

Gueida Fofana - France Under 21 Captain valued at £1 Million pounds. Powerful athletic midfielder who saw his move to Astan Villa fall through in December due to a back problem. Gueida has also attracted interest from Liverpool and Chelsea. Currently plays in the French Second Division for Le Havre who have a history of producing good young players. His sell on value in a few years will see a huge profit for th buying club.

Yacine Brahimi - French Under 21 International playing with Rennes. A fantastic talent full of tricks and excellent technical ability. Has two years left on his contract and valued at £2.5 Million. The type of player who is capable of a moment of magic to win the game.

Admir Mehmedi - Switzerland under 21 international playing for FC Zurich. Reminds me of Kaka the way he makes football look so easy Gliding by players. Excellent balance and scores some lovely goals. Was a star at the recent U21 tournament along with his team mate Xhedran Shaqiri.

Loic Nestor - le Havre centre half valued at £2 Million pounds. An old head on Young shoulders, 22 years of age, not the biggest of defenders but has a good footballing braing and attitude. Captained the French Under 21 side and another of Le Harves talanted young players.

Jean Alain Fanchone - Left back who is contracted to Strasbourg, was on loan at Arles Avignon last season due to Strasbourg relagetion to the third division and financial troubles. Would command a fee of under £1 Million pounds and a bargain for a French Under 21 international. Quick tall defender with a good engine and attitude for the game.

Selim Hammouche - French Algerian 18 year old playing for third division French side Gueugnon. One of the most talanted young playes outside the French Top league. Watched him play against Lyon under 18‘s where he stole the show. Fantastic technical ability. Dont expect the young midfielder to be playing at this level any longer. Can be picked up for Ã?£300k.

Landry Mulemo - 24 year old Belgian defender playing for Bucaspor in Turkey. His side have been just relegated and he can be picked up for under £1million pounds. Liverpool were chasing him before his move to Turkey. Quick left back who likes to get forward.

Torric Jebrin - What a talent this boy is, plays for Bucaspor in Turkey. Only signed for them in January after trials with Atl Madrid and Arsenal. Midfielder who likes to get stuck in and score goals. Good on the ball. One of the best young players in Turkey. Again due to Bucas relagation he will be looking to play at a higher level.

Cenk Tousun - Turkish Under 21 international who holds a Germain passport. A big future ahead for Tosun who was fantastic for Gaziantep last season. Scored 10 Goals in 14 Games and has already been linked with the Istanbul 3. His fee has already risen to £3Million pounds but money well spent for a natural born finisher.

Samuel Holman - Swedish midfielder playing for Istanbul BBS. There player of the season last year scoring some important goals from midfield from them. Good on the ball and likes making late runs supporting the forwards. 26 caps for Sweden. Would suit the british game with his style of play.

Sahin Aygunes - German born Turkish under 21 International forward. Had a good season for bottom of the league Kasimpasa. 20 Years of age and a very good young player. Too good to play in the Turkish Second League. Strong player who woud cope with the British game. Valued at £400k.

Fernando Varela - Along with Sahin Aygunes was one of very few positives from Kasimpasas season. Spanish midfilder who can only be described as a genius with the ball. Not the quickest but give him the ball and he can pass, dribble and score some cracking long distance goals. Excellent at set pieces as well.

Hasan Ali Kaldrim - 20 Year old left back who plays with Kayserispor. One of Turkeys top young players with Fenerbahce interested. Very quick and excellent technical ability. Holds a German passport so no work permit problems. Fantastic prospect.

Arash Afshin - 20 Year old Iranian international. One of the golden boys of Iranian football, great finisher, good technical ability and pace. The pick of the bunch on this list, playing with Foolad in Iran and can be picked up for a bargain.

Karim Ansafarid - irans top young player, at 20 years of age is been chased by Dortmund and Everton. Valued at £500k. Already a member of the Iran national team. Great technical ability and could be the best player to come out of Iran in the history of Iranian football. Would be a sensational signing for Rangers with a huge sell on value.

Seems the guy is into his French football and Turkish football. Turkish players need work permits so I'm unsure if all of those targets could get permits. I say targets more like suggestions.

I was saying this a while back on here, there are thousands of bears based overseas and follow football wherever they are,it doesn't harm Rangers to at least take on board suggested players and they can check them out initialy from MP offices and if they feel they are worth taking further then can go scout them,in fact I'm sure it was Pete who had contacted Rangers at one time but never even got a reply. I would hope this would be the start of something.

Amazing coincidence because I was talkiing about this subject with someone last night and we spoke about it for ages. We didn't agree on everything, but what we did agree on is that our foreign scouting could do with improvement and a fresh approach.

My own idea on the subject (and it's no doubt been suggested many times before) is that for a relatively small financial outlay the club could actually employ die-hard and enthusiastic Gers fans all over the world to do some scouting. All the club would have to do is start a scouting pilot scheme where they advertise that if you live abroad and you're interested in scouting for Rangers you should call or email for an application form and possible interview.

The end goal in this vision would be to have a large network of part-time and full-time scouts based in coutries all over the world who go to watch games at all levels. They would get paid either on a per-game plus travel expenses basis for a part time scout or in the case of full-time scouts, get paid an annual salary plus travel expenses. Annual salaries would be real-world salaries not football salaries, so something like £30-35k per year plus expenses and signing bonuses for a full-time scout. They would all be required to file match and 'interesting player' reports directly to someone who's employed as part of our main scouting team in Scotland. They could then be asked to follow the progress of 'interesting players' who they had highlighted and submit reports on their ongoing progress.

It wouldn't be an easy or particularly glamourous job (in terms of football circles and the insane wages paid to people in the football game), but I'm pretty sure that a hell of a lot of clued-up Rangers fans would kill for such a job and ultimately... having devoted full-time scouts in places like Holland, Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Argentina etc etc etc... could end up proving to be very worthwhile. Even just having ten or twelve such scouts around the world would surely be of benefit to the club if it was properly run and you wouldn't be talking about insane amounts of money in wages either.

Dont disagree with any of this but one issue you have is work permits for the coaches. Just as players need work permits so too do coaches in some places. And it isnt necessarily easy to get them. This is moreso in the case of full-time coaches. Part-time not quite so bad as people are likely already working and have a permit anyway.

I would do it for free in Bermuda... but then our island is only 21 miles long by 1 mile wide so travel expenses wouldnt be that harsh.... Some pretty good players here though - but where I would see excellent value would be in scouring the kids, even from as young as 6 or 7. They cant sign anything but you can get a "partnership" with their club and an understanding on future movement.

I'd cover south east asia.

Thing is you don't need a work permit if you are paid into a UK bank, all you are doing is watching a game of football. There is ways round these things, believe me

That may be so over there. Isnt so over here. You can be in the country no longer than 3 weeks without a permit.

That said, I suspect that somewhere like Bermuda is the exception rather than the norm.
