Dundee Utd release a strange statement about Goodwillie

Recommended Posts

He's probably on about £3k at Utd - the idea of tripling that at Rangers at the very least is very likely appealing to him.

Of course, when it happens to your club (Whittaker) it's infuriating and makes you dislike the player in question; when it is your club receiving said player, it's suddenly ok...

Essentially, he signed this deal to get his club - the very one who made him into the footballer we want - a better deal. Not least since the Tangerines are in dire straits too (just remind yourself about the amount of decent players which they have freed, i.e. not being able to hand new contracts). I would assume he's in the know about Rangers' interest, wants to come and also wants to fend off interest from no-hopers in England, who might be able to match United's valuation. It could well be that the latter is the reason why he gets annoyed and hands in the request ... yet, AFAIK, he did not, but told United "respectfully" that he wants to join us. Hopefully this will end the meddling sooner rather than later.

I wonder if Thompson will go on a rant saying that this was a total disrespectful bid etc?

Well what do you know?

United chief blasts Gers

FURIOUS Dundee United chairman Stephen Thompson last night told Rangers: Put up or shut up.

The Tannadice chief is livid over the Ibrox club's pursuit of star striker David Goodwillie.

Gers have already had a £1million offer for the hitman rejected.

But Thompson wants DOUBLE that amount and rapped: "If Rangers want David Goodwillie then they have to start talking sensible money. Otherwise they should stop talking about him publicly.

"If they are not willing or able to meet our valuation, they should look elsewhere." Meanwhile, SunSport can reveal the SPL champs have upped their efforts to hold on to Steven Whittaker by tabling a bumper new FIVE-YEAR deal.

Bursaspor have had a £1million bid rejected and Gers' director of football Gordon Smith said: "We don't want to sell Steven and have no intention to do so.

"We've made him an offer we hope he accepts. We hope we've put together a package which will be attractive to him but we wait and see."

Skipper Davie Weir will sign a new one-year deal this week.

The guy is a tool and I detest him, clearly hates our club as well.

TBH Rangers are dealing with this transfer in just the way we would expect. Prudently. We know he wants to come, badly, and we know they're skint, so we slap in the token offer, wait for the boy to do the work and come back to them when he's made a fuss.
