Dundee Utd release a strange statement about Goodwillie

Recommended Posts

Agreed. The lad obviously wants to come, Thompson desperately wants the dosh and he's worried we won't come back. Last day of window one if it was up to me.

BTW, what was all this tosh in the papers about Cardiff having made a bid for him which was accepted?

Only stickler is his court cases - otherwise, think he could be another Naisy for us.

Apparently we are offering a 7 figure sum for him. So that will be £1m.

RANGERS will make a seven-figure move for David Goodwillie in the next 24 hours.

Boss Ally McCoist has approved a bid for the Dundee United ace.

He hopes to make top target Goodie his first signing as Rangers boss. SunSport can reveal that McCoist has held fresh talks with owner Craig Whyte over the 22-year-old hitman - who United value at £2million.

The SPL champs still believe that price tag is too high but they'll test United's resolve and challenge three Championship clubs for his signature.

Tannadice chairman Stephen Thompson has held talks with Cardiff and Blackpool over the 17-goal front man. Nottingham Forest are also keen on the Scotland striker.

Speaking yesterday, Thompson insisted he'd heard nothing from Gers for a week.

He said: "Rangers have not been in touch with us since Monday of last week. They asked us then what we were looking for for David, we told them and we've heard nothing since. No bid from Rangers has been put on the table."

That situation will change in the next 24 hours as McCoist steps up his search for new talent after losing out on former United winger Craig Conway and other targets.

Hearts left-back Lee Wallace and Aston Villa stopper Carlos Cuellar also remain high on new gaffer McCoist's summer wish-list ahead of next week's trip to a German training camp.

Veteran captain David Weir could also have penned a new deal by then following face-to-face talks with the boss yesterday.

I honestly don't know how we can consider bidding for a guy who has two different assault charges over him.

Obviously we presume innocence but it's certainly a big gamble.
