Cash Crisis - Daily Rhebel

Recommended Posts

Unfortunately, until Whyte does spend some cash then such negative rumours will persist.

Rightly or wrongly, he has to prove them wrong.

I was about to post the same.

Concrete offers for Cuellar, Goodwillie or whomever may dispell some of the negativity but even signing Hemed on a bosman wont stop the sniping.

I was told two weeks ago that we would not pay a fee for a player this summer as Whyte has still not secured the external funding promised.

Rumours are that Jelavic was paid for by Ticketus style funding ahead of our CL involvement last season but I've no idea if that is true (probably Celtic-minded mischief-making) but would this kind of thing show up in our annual accounts?

I sincerely hope the same 'risk' isn't taken this year in the absence of other investment and/or guaranteed CL Group Stage income.

I actually do not mind shrewd business like signing Hemed or Danns or Conway on a free, with only wage-money involved and a sell-on value firmly attached. At this moment and time, consolidating our finances despite the take-over should still be up there on the agenda. So if someone wants to throw silly money at us for Bougherra or Whittaker (each should get a 3m to 5m price tag, IMHO (illusionary, I know, but we like others can do it)) we should consider it. Obviously, the press will try to invent a story about everything we do, good or bad. Today, the Mail is the good paper, the Record the bad one. Tomorrow it could be vice versa. Right now, I would not be surprised to see some of them trying to get into Whyte's good books.

Don't get me wrong - if we can be clever in the transfer market by limiting ourselves to free players (and/or suitable loan deals) to help face our ongoing financial challenges, I'd be delighted.

However, we still need to buy players and if you want real quality, it will (generally speaking) cost you.

The problem we have is we still don't know the answers to many of the questions we have. It's up to Craig Whyte to answer them - especially since we're still half a board of directors short less than 6 weeks ahead of the new SPL season starting.

If we were to get money for a player Boughera or SW, would that money be spent on other players, there are too many questions unanswered.

As Frankie says until we actually spend, the rumours and doubts will continue.
