Birmingham release a host of players

Recommended Posts

Not often I agree with you (:P)

I blame Kris Boyd :)

but you raise a good point there. Shows we can attract reasonable quality from the EPL (Beattie aside??).

It's not as crazy a concept as some might think. Yes, we're in a terrible league, but we're financially fixed now and we have the carrot of CL to entice players with.

How are we 'financially fixed now' all of a sudden Danny? I don't get it. All I seem to read is comments like that and people saying things like 'now that we have no money worries' or 'now that we're debt free' etc etc. I just don't get it at all. I'm generally an optimistic person and I don't want to trample over anyone's utopic dreams of the new Rangers under Craig Whyte, but I think someone must have laced the drinking water with a healthy dose of naivity.

The fact is, that none of us actually know whats going to happen with the £18m of debt which Wavetower bought from LBG. All we know is that at the time of agreement to purchase SDM's shares, Craig Whyte supposedly agreed to an 'obligation to waive' the debt at some point in the future. That doesn't mean that we won't be continuing to pay off the debt in the meantime though, does it? Have I missed the part where someone trustworthy on this matter said that we no longer have to repay our outstanding debts?

On the issue of the money that Craig Whyte has promised to invest in the squad: Where is it coming from? Will Whyte be borrowing it then gifting it to us or borrowing then lending it to us? We want to know the fine print.

Before anyone jumps on me I'm not anti-Whyte at all, I just don't think we know enough about the takeover, debt situation and Whyte's investment plans yet to be considering that the club is fixed or financially sound all of a sudden. All we know for sure is that the guy's only just in the door.

Stop being such a soorplum :)

Well observed, concise and to the point.

Although everything in the Rangers garden might not be rosy, we're certainly in a better place than we were a few months ago, what with talk of administration and all that.
