Not sure what point you were responding to mate, but with regards to Shinnie, it looks like he won't make it for us unfortunately, but he had two loan spells out to Dundee who had a very decent 1st division side and he was getting a game, so I'm sure he'll get picked up. Anyway, best of luck to him and all the young lads we've released.

hes had bad luck with injury since he did well at dundee. i am sure he will get a club

It's incredible how much influence injuries can have on these players' careers. Jamie Ness is a fine example. An absolutely cracking young player who just seemed to disappear after being touted as a big deal. It actually looked as if he might be another one who ended up not making it, but then comes back from injury, works hard and manages to break through. When he got a run of games this year he did really well and looked to be deserving of a place in the team.

Zappa , it was the points about the positions of the players that we had released , some of those playing for the U19 were very young , possibly too young for that level and that was throughout the U19 's and brought about by next to zero investment for the last few years , however considering how close the U19's came to winning it's a testament to how good some of them can be , I think it was really only down to a few key injuries that scuppered them in the end .

Do Rangers get a fee for the education of these youngsters or does the fact that they are released mean they leave for nothing?

We have to do both imo.

 

Agreed, signing a couple of youths will not impact upon our signings for the first team imo. It will not be a case of one or the other. Every year we also pick up young players for the development squads. Any professional team would do the same.

The U19's are essentially divided into two groups; 1st year and 2nd year. As far as I know, the 2010/11 season's 1st year U19 players were all 17+ (born '93) and the 2nd year U19 players were all 18+ (born '92). Where's the abnormality there??

 

Obviuosly there might have been the odd lad promoted early from the 2nd year U17 group, but you'd think if that happened it would only be due to their talent or filling in for emergency situations.

If they're released they are no longer connected to Rangers contractually, so I doubt very much if Rangers would recieve anything. What makes you think otherwise?
