Youngster leaves for Dundee

Recommended Posts

Defenders Danny Griffin and Gary MacKenzie have become Alex Rae's first signings as Dundee manager after agreeing two-year contracts.

The 28-year-old Griffin, formerly of Dundee United, was with Aberdeen for the second half of the season after an injury-hit spell with Stockport County.

MacKenzie, 20, has come through the youth system at Rangers.

A delighted Rae told BBC Sport: "He's a winner and was desperate for a crack at first-team football."

MacKenzie, a Scotland Under-19 international, impressed Rae during his two seasons with the Scottish Premier League club.

And the manager predicted that MacKenzie would "terrify" a few strikers in his time at Dens Park. What injury problems? I've been fully fit since October last year and it's not an issue

MacKenzie said: "I'm a physical defender and it's my job to stop strikers scoring.

"I'm looking forward to playing alongside Bobby Mann. His experience will help me and I think we can complement each other's style of play."

"I know Dundee are a big club and I want to play in the Premier League for them."

I remember him playing alongside Boumsong once but other than that Eck didn't play him. Here's hoping he can do well at Dens Park for Alex Rae.
