EL-HADJI Diouf has revealed he is in talks with Rangers over extending his stay at Ibrox after describing his time at the club as one of the best in his career.

The Blackburn forward's four-month loan is coming to an end but he revelled in his time at Rangers, winning the Co-operative Insurance Cup and SPL title.

The 30-year-old played 21 games for the club, scoring two goals. Although he had to settle for substitute appearances in the last six matches of the season, he earned cult hero status with the Rangers fans.

Diouf said: "We are talking right now with the club to see what will happen after this season but I will tell you now this club is magic, really unbelievable.

"The fans have been great and I have won two trophies and that is why I came here.

"Before I joined people asked me why I was coming because some people thought I was better than that, but no, I am not, this club is magic and I love the fans and want to thank them for everything."

The former Liverpool, Sunderland and Bolton player savoured the celebrations on Sunday as 40,000 Rangers fans descended on Ibrox to greet the players on their return from their title-clinching victory at Kilmarnock.

Diouf said: "Ibrox was brilliant, an amazing atmosphere and one of the best moments of my career.

"My whole time here has been one of the best in my football life.

"I've only been here for four months but everyone loves me and I got one of the best receptions from the fans.

"Winning was such a big moment, but not for me, for the fans. That is what football is about, the supporters."

I still can't decide if I want to keep him or not.

I'm the same mate. He is very strong on the ball, can pass the ball, but he lacks pace and how much would he be getting paid?.

Iconic with the fans. But a "no thanks" for me.

Nothing to do with his previous indescretions. I just dont think that he has the pace to be effective in the game up here. Strong on the ball and can pass, but lacks pace and also slows the game down far too much. There IS the possibility that he could adapt but given he will be on reasonably high wages (one would assume) I would be looking for other alternatives before I signed a guy the wrong side of 30 who, if anything, will only get slower.

I also dont think, PSV aside, that he has had a particularly big impact on our championship winning team. Only really utilised when we had a lead and wanted better ball retention - we cant sign him to be "just" that guy.

Not for me either.

Wage wise, we could probably get one or two outrageous talents for the same price if we look in Eastern Europe or somewhere outwith the big leagues.

We need lightning pace and players who can play fast one-touch flowing football.

Guest Dutchy

I think he did a great job of upsetting septic fans, but he didn't do enough for me, even when we've been struggling, he's on the bench.

I'm sure he wants to stay, but we'd be better off finding another guy to hold the ball up.
