Our players' assists in the SPL this season - Weiss is No.1

Recommended Posts

In order from 1 to 14 with number of assists, games played and an assist/game ratio

  1. Vladimir Weiss - 9 assists in 23 games = 1 in 2.5
  2. Greg Wylde - 5 assists in 15 games = 1 in 3
  3. Kirk Broadfoot - 2 assists in 8 games = 1 in 4
  4. Steven Naismith - 7 assists in 31 games = 1 in 4.4
  5. Steven Whittaker - 8 assists in 36 games = 1 in 4.5
  6. Nikica Jelavic - 5 assists in 23 games = 1 in 4.6
  7. Steven Davis - 7 assists in 37 games = 1 in 5.3
  8. Kyle Lafferty - 5 assists in 31 games = 1 in 6.2
  9. Lee McCulloch - 3 assists in 21 games = 1 in 7
  10. El-Hadji Diouf - 2 assists in 15 games = 1 in 7.5
  11. Madjid Bougherra - 2 assists in 31 games = 1 in 15.5
  12. Sasa Papac - 2 assists in 34 games = 1 in 17
  13. Maurice Edu - 1 assist in 33 games = 1 in 33
  14. David Weir - 1 assist in 37 games = 1 in 37

Note 1 - With this being based on SPL appearances rather than minutes played it's not quite as accurate or revealing as it could be!

Note 2 - Kirk Broadfoot getting 3rd spot with only 8 appearances is a bit deceiving because there's no guarantee he could've kept it up.

Note 3 - Mo, there's room for improvement my man (trying to be polite).

Note 4 - Wylde made a GREAT contribution with 5 assists in 15 appearances

Note 5 - VLAD IS DA MAN!!!!

Another thing worth noting is what a great contribution Whittaker made for a right back. 8 assists in 36 games is excellent!

To be honest I think the movement of Naismith is the difference that makes us play as well as we did in the last 5 or 6 games. If Naismith falls away we are far more static. He really is wasted stuck out on the wing he needs to have that rambling role where he is almost impossible to mark.

It's not just Naismith Pete. Almost the whole team from back to front stepped up to the plate in the run-in because they HAD TO. If they hadn't I don't think we'd have won the title. Naismith was one, but every player played their part. In particular I'd say Davis & Lafferty really showed their best or close to their best. McGregor was great, the defence were solid and young Greg Wylde was emmense for his age and experience level.
