Will Walter want to have another go at the Premiership?

Recommended Posts

I hope not. England might actually do something under a no-nonsense manager like Walter - he's just what they need and the last thing we want... I really don't want England to have a manager who is immune to all the hype and media crap, thank you very much. It's a handicap that stops them from being able to gloat for years on end.

In which case he is tailor-made for the Scotland job. After Levein's latest squad omitting fletcher,S. and Goodwillie and including yet another English player it can't come soon enough for me.

Walter returning to Scotland would be a dream move. The one thing I really regretted about him coming to Rangers is that Scotland lost the best manager we have had since I've been old enough to watch it.

We may have had managers with great ability like Stein and Ferguson but neither of them did much of note. Stein got us to the finals but it was a group we expected to top with the players we had at the time. Fergie was absolutely dire at the finals.

Luckily at the time Eck too over and built on the standard we had achieved. Unluckily, he left also and we have been picking up the pieces ever since.

I can't see him taking another managers job and although I know we can all change our minds I think what he has said recently about retiring will be true. Why would he want all the hassle he has had over the years at his age. I think he might just want a relaxing retirement along with spending more time with his family and going out as a hero and legend :)

So you dislike this regime as much as the Burley one?

For me the jury is still out on Levein.

I lost all respect for Levein when he played a 6-5-0 formation. What a disaster that was and against all things that you want to see in a football team.

I'm with you on that one. Not sure if the powers that be (and the media) would want Wattie back in the Scotland job - you know, walked out on us before bla-de-bla .......

The point I was making about the England job is that I believe Wattie's good enough to do it really well. Not so sure in retrospect that he wants the high profile.

Maybe johnnyk's right. He's hung up his boots and he'll ride off into the sunset.

Whatever, Wattie, thanks for everything and a bundle of great memories.
