Our financial situation 'now'

Recommended Posts

Hopefully, now that the season is over, further details will emerge.

The impression I got was that CW didn't want to detract/distract from the playing side too much. Now that the League Flag is in its rightful home, there maybe some backroom movement or press conference etc to allow questions to be asked/answered, and to layout the road forward.

Why do the Supporter Groups not ask, Rangers need the money from Supporters, so we should ask for some clarity.

I doubt that they would be told anything prior to the shareholder document is released.

Whatever our financial situation is at the moment, and it has to be better than it was at the start of the season, we're on a more sound fiscal footing than our separated brethren who made it clear from day won that they had to win this title to get access to the Championship money. Don'y let them kid you otherwise. They are now up to their financial necks in the brown smelly stuff.

You have to wonder what kind of debt Celtic are piling up as although they seem to have greater income streams, lower interest to pay and didn't have to pay off debt at about 12M a year, they have not been earning the CL money and have amassed a relatively large and expensive squad - with a higher wage structure than ours.

It looks like while we have reduced our debt and had a new owner come in to almost clear it and pump some money in, while having a good opportunity for CL qualification, they will have rolled their debt back up without a forecast of enough income to pay it back. Their attendances are shrinking - and this season's loss will possibly hit that further, no chance of CL money and they have not much pedigree in Europe by their players or rookie manager to guarantee much from the Europa league.

You also have to consider that they are no longer fiscally prudent and I'm sure Lennon, already used to spending, will want to augment his squad. Unless Diamond decides to put his short arm into his very deep pocket - he can afford it, they are going to end up in the position we have just vacated.

In contrast we have been incredibly fiscally prudent - staying successful with cut after cut, but are now out of the woods with a net investment instead of huge debt repayments. Even if we just live within our income, we'll be far better off than for the last few years - especially if we can qualify for the CL.

After this title and the manner of the winning, as well as the removal of SDM, and the hope a new owner brings, I would hope our attendances will rise back to the levels of a couple of years ago. That would remove the £2M odd financial advantage Celtic usually have over us in gate money and recreate that amazing atmosphere of close to 51,000 full house every second game.

We just have to see what kind of a manager Ally turns out to be and if he's learned from the master along with some tricks of his own. His first job will be to scour the transfer market for quality players who are also good value, to build up what will be a skeleton squad to something more substantial.

It's another new era for us that looks very bright, but we have to be wary about getting carried away especially when you look at how rare four titles in a row has been - and really, without the cheating, this should be a potential number five.

I can understand this, but we have to start asking questions, or we will continue to be treated as mushrooms.

We have to make sure no one treats us, or the Club, in the way Murray did. No more Dictators.

it doesn't matter what we think, decisions will be made and we can lump it or like it.

That is what you get when you have a one man ownership. If we do see the club is being run wrong though we can make our voices heard though. It may or may not help though.
