johnnyk 158
From the BBC. Although the transfer window formally opens on 1 July, domestic transfers between clubs in the same association (eg England or Scotland) can take place as soon as a club completes its last competitive 2010/11 fixtures. However, many transfers or signings, although agreed and announced at this time, will not formally go through until 1 July because the majority of players' contracts expire on 30 June. chilledbear 16
Hard to believe the boy conducting all the negotiations is on holiday. RANGERS last night got back round the table with contract rebel Steven Whittaker after tabling a bumper five-year deal. Blues boss Ally McCoist made contact with Whittaker's representatives yesterday morning to make it clear the Ibrox outfit are desperate to keep the versatile 27-year-old for the long-term. And talks continued throughout the day with head of football administrator Andrew Dickson tabling the new, improved contract towards the end of the business day. Whittaker, who has just 12 months left to run on his current agreement, has already turned down a handful of proposals from new chairman Craig Whyte. But this one offers added security and looks like it may well be enough to ward off interest from Turks Bursaspor and get the Scotland ace to sign on the dotted line. Whittaker's agent Ken Anderson told Express Sport: "There has now been a five-year contract tabled. "It is better than what has been previously offered in that it is long-term and we are back talking. It is good that Rangers have come back to us with a good proposal. "I believe Andrew Dickson is on holiday in Italy at the moment and it maybe says something that he rang." http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/256137/Rangers-desperate-to-keep-Steven-Whittaker Edited July 1, 2011 by chilledbear Adding the link. der Berliner 3,744
Honestly, he is not that good that we should be held to ransom or have to go to our knees to persuade him to stay. I for one would have been quite happy (for the time being) with Foster and Broadfoot ...
Frankie 8,562
Whittaker is a useful player to have as he's versatile, creative and experienced. He's not worth £20K per week though and I'll be stunned if we've offered him anywhere near that.
