ian1964 10,780
WEST HAM are preparing a £2million-plus bid for Rangers striker Kyle Lafferty. Hammers boss Sam Allardyce is a long-time admirer of the Northern Ireland ace and has contacted Gers about his availability. Rangers boss Ally McCoist is aware of the Upton Park club's interest but it's thought it would take a serious offer to tempt him to sell. McCoist is desperate to bring in players of his own - including another striker. Lafferty, a £3.25m signing from Burnley in 2008, finished last season in sensational form alongside Nikica Jelavic, with eight goals in the final ten matches to help clinch three in a row. However, a summer hernia operation put paid to his hopes of kicking off this season in similar style. Lafferty, 23. has two years left on his contract and hopes to be back in action for Gers' clash with Motherwell on August 21. laudrup11 0
Worth a shot but his agent is saying he won't be coming to us. Even if he handed in a transfer request it will end up being rejected by Anderlecht so it may be a pointless exercise in some senses but Anderlecht wouldn't want an unhappy player on their books but probably end up selling to someone else, especially when he has a lengthy contract iirc. If he really wanted to join us and Anderlecht have went back on an agreement he should do a Jelavic and go public with his desire to leave and sign for Rangers. My only hope is if he does do it that it doesn't drag on as long as the Jelavic will he won't he saga
der Berliner 3,884
Looking at this ... West Brom are set to smash their transfer record after Roy Hodgson made a £7m swoop for Reading forward Shane Long. Full story: the Sun Newcastle have been told they will have to stump up £14m if they want to sign Tottenham's Russian striker Roman Pavlyuchenko. Full story: Daily Mail West Ham? They sure got some parting shot cash for exiting the EPL, so given his latest form and the 2 years of his contract remaining ... how about 4m for this promising young striker? As has been said by Whyte (and you can look at history to see he's correct about it), the English clubs do most of their dealings (maybe not the grand deals, but the majority) from the second week of August onwards, sometimes for silly money. Not that there seem to be many reasonable fees down there in England. Thus we will see some more interesting stuf being written. As for Verhoek and Juhasz, we'll have to wait and see. Let's sign up the Australian first and foremost, snatch Jamie Murphy up ere he's part of any late bid from England and look what we can get elsewhere. Gazza_8 233
We'll still sign the Hungarian boy from Anderlecht. Remember the Jelavic saga? Smith once said we had officially pulled out and wouldn't be signing him and look what happened?
Gazza_8 233
Linked with Boumsong who's wanting away from Panathinaikos.
Craigy1881 79
We'll still sign the Hungarian boy from Anderlecht. Remember the Jelavic saga? Smith once said we had officially pulled out and wouldn't be signing him and look what happened? Hopefully you're right, just slightly frustrating that's all. Especially since it looked as if we were really close. Maybe this is scare tactics by them to get us to cough up the extra cash. Linked with Boumsong who's wanting away from Panathinaikos. I hope not, would not fancy having him back. Is he still as bad as he was at newcastle?
Gazza_8 233
Where's this Murphy talk coming from? Has McCoist come out and said we're interested?
der Berliner 3,884
Apparently we were only 200K away from agreeing a deal with Anderlecht No, that is what the papers headlines' were about. STV quoted the agent who said that all was fine and well with the money, but Anderlecht moved posts after seeing no need to sell him, raking in 18m for their striker. Anderlecht renegged on a verbal agreement with player and agent. See earlier posts. Strange things happened this summer. Miller's claim of us being "too late" - why was there need to go for the first club that showed up before the transfer window was even half open? United pushed through their deal with Goodwillie like there wasn't 5 weeks of the window remaining. Now Anderlecht moving posts. And for some reason, a disappointing amount of Bears still lie all blame at Rangers ...
der Berliner 3,884
Where's this Murphy talk coming from? Has McCoist come out and said we're interested? It comes from early July, when the Express (methinks) mentioned that we are interested. We have not made a bid, nor has anyone else. Rest assured, the longer the transfer window is open, this or that low key EPL or Championship side will want to bolster their squad and sign him up for their benches. And they can easily match Mo'll's 1m valuation. There is, for some strange reason, a gross consensus across all boards that he would be a decent buy, but unless we make a bid, it is all just wishful thinking. As I said before, I'd have him before Goodwillie. On a sidenote, we'll still have Rhys Murphy on trial after the international week.
