UEFA impose one match away ban on Rangers

Recommended Posts

Have to say that unless we appeal and win the appeal it's probably inevitable that we'll end up having to serve the suspended bans too. Even if our fans are perfectly well behaved our enemies will put there heads together to make complaints. Anonymous and dubious match reporters will still tell UEFA via organisations like FARE, SRTRC, KIO and Brady's CICI that the big bad Rangers fans are singing or chanting sectarian and/or discriminatory things. The club MUST appeal and even take this higher than UEFA if need be.

To be honest I don't think we should appeal. If we lose and have to play a home game without supporters the costs will be far far higher than the 80k we have to pay now. I think we have to dust ourselves down and take this warning and cut out the singing of unwanted songs.

Martin Bain has said several times now that he will defend the club 'vigorously' on these allegations and charges and I hope that's exactly what he does. Should we lose out with the Uefa Appeals Board, we have the right to then take the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. Even if we ultimately lose and have to serve the one match home game ban it will show that the club strongly object to the charges and the way in which they've been conducted. We're being treated unfairly here and the club should make a stand. The people who are really doing all this to us will stop at nothing to make sure we end up serving the suspended bans anyway, so the financial difference would only be in some potential legal and travel costs for taking it to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

We have to challenge though.

We can't continue to be sanctioned because bitter tarriers twist the meaning of songs like TFS as an example.

TFS has been deemed sectarian by a Scottish court so we can never win that argument before it is turned around in a Scottish court.

We have to stop worrying what the tarriers are doing and start supporting Rangers. We are never going to win by hitting our heads against a wall. It is the same in every war the first thing to hit is their ammunition. If we keep feeding them with ammunition they will keep firing shots at us.

Much as though I see the "we should appeal" line..... I actually hope the fans who travel to away games start to see that their actions are going to cause not just consternation to the club but severe financial consequence.

The ban isnt as bad as I expected to be honest. But hopefully it is the wake-up call that we need that we cant just "sing what we like" - whether we agree or not.

My answer is the same as with Ally. We are the ones supplying the ammunition we have to stop that.

If Uefa would tell us what the "unwanted" songs/chants are it would help

They won't just do that without prompting. We should strongly appeal this and if we lose, then the club (with the help of the RSCs etc) is going to have to ask UEFA to review our whole song book and tell us what is acceptable.

Agree Craig. I seem to have lost the thanks button.

As Whosthedado said though pete, we need to know specifically what can be deemed as ammunition and what can't.
