If any of the committee are involved in any management buyout then they should recuse themselves as having a vested interest.

Even if the committee do not recommend the Whyte bid, I presume that Murray could sell his shares to Whyte anyway?

One potential reason for all this is that the the deal will still go ahead and this was all to get the fans worried so that they will ask less questions when the deal goes ahead.

Uncertainty prevails mate but evidence suggests a management buy out (possibly backed by others) may be the alternative to Whyte - the 'irons in the fire' talked about by AJ the other week. That is merely speculation though.

This would explain why Whyte is trying to get the deal done asap.

Either way the onus is now on the committee to approve or reject the Whyte bid.

If it was a bid by current Board members, are they waiting on the Tax issue to become clearer before they make a bid?

Yeah, the independent committee is merely an informal comfort for shareholders - as you know SDM can do what he like.

Would he have to call an EGM to go ahead with sale though?

No idea mate.

I'd have thought it was in all buyer's interests to move now to maximise season ticket renewals. But I guess people can buy season tickets at any time.

Re the tax issue, if Whyte was ready to buy, I would assume the tax issue has been covered and in any case, wouldn't this be more something the owner/culprit rather than the board has to address?

(Wouldn't we be surprised if the deal just happens and Whyte and Co- look at the newspapers today and ask themselves: "What is this rubbish all about?")

Well, well ...
