Time to learn to play the modern game

Recommended Posts

I agree there are certain songs that the Rangers fans should not be singing, however it is only because of the MOPES that they are now illegal, also make no mistake here that a lot of this happened because Rangers FC has allowed these songs to be banned, what songs will the MOPES be offended by next??,again a real question as they will not stop until they have done as much damage to Rangers FC as they possibly can due to their sad, bitter existence. I do wonder what they would be complaining about if Rangers were non existent. Now is the time to start a real fight but sadly we as Rangers fans can't agree on the colour of shite,so hopefuly Rangers FC wake up and smell the coffee otherwise we will continualy be hunted until we have no songs left to sing.

The point I'm trying to make is that if a certain song or word is banned, that's a rule change and to win a game we have to abide by the rules. Once the rule is set we have to play by it.

A big part of the defensive game is to aggressively and vigorously challenge all attempts to ban a song unless it's obvious it should be banned. The attacking game is to lobby for the banning of anything of theirs we don't like or anything else which we can convince UEFA or the SFA to ban to piss them off.

It should be like James Bond - they send one of oursh to the hoshpital, we shend one of theirsh to the morgue...

We need to escalate this tactic and inundate UEFA and the SFA with complaint after complaint. They'll be so fed up with it they'll end up leaving it alone and see it for the can of worms it is.

We need more coverage in the press defending or at least explaining ourselves as well as attacking every vile thing they say or do. UEFA, the SFA, the politicians, the police and the courts have not only set the new rules, they've also structured and encouraged the way the game needs to be played. Celtic are playing it that way, now we need to play the same way but harder and better.

The best way to win is to play better while being seen to play within the rules. To that goal, cleaning up our act would give us a massive advantage, as there is little chance they will clean up theirs. Their tactic on that front is to deny, deflect and spin things their way. If we actually have a clean bill of health then we don't need to waste any energy doing that.

We hate them and their whole agenda, why are we putting all our energy into stuff that results in perceived bigotry against Irish and Catholics? It's giving them a massive stick to beat us with which just seems masochistic. Ditch the sectarian crap and we can go on to expose them for the evil they stand for. We can then win the game on many levels.

When you see clubs and fans across Europe getting away with murder it's hard to comprehend the severity of what our punishments could be. Having said that i agree with Calscot's sentiments that TBB, famine Song, FTP and No Pope of Rome must be consigned to history. It gives me no pleasure in saying that but fans have to be of the mindset I'm a Rangers supporter first and foremost over anything else.

FT and NPOR have no excuse. However, we've been pathetically stupid when it comes to songs like TBB. One or two word changes is all it needed and it wouldn't be banned. The F word is asurdly banned, while it's banned we should stop using it. The famine song is too sensitive and non Rangers people just don't get it and it makes us look bad. They've beaten us on that score with the oft repeated line, "the song refers to the famine which killed millions of people". We need to sing more clever songs that can't backfire so spectacularly. Ones that take the piss but are obvious in intention.

I dislike religion very much and as such I'm finding it hard to call myself a proper atheist, but I'm getting there.

I for one would have no trouble at not signing songs about anyones religion easy peasy, but as you point out, does everyone think the same? Apparently not and the real, or imagined injustices seen against your own team make you more reactionary, which is the nature of the beast I'd say.

Surely the authorities have some part of blame in all this?

They have not made arrests, they have not made any complaints, until the last OF game, then they went to town on the anti-bigotry thing. But only on the OF's bigotry it seems as I watched the Hibs/Hearts derby the other week and it was as clear as a bell what the Hearts fans were singing.

I know it wasn't Europe and they are or present tormentors, after glowing reports, but the lack of action is the thing that allows it's continuation. I'd say anyway.
