Bluedell 5,679
TLBR got 2 bans of 4 games, but Celtic were trying to argue that he could serve them concurrently. what was the outcome of that? I recall the SFA apparently sending a threateniing letter to Celtic, but did the SFA eventually cave?
Frankie 8,665
Yes they did which is why he was on the touchline last night.
Bluedell 5,679
So Lennon didn't actually serve any ban for his attempted assault? What a disgrace.
Frankie 8,665
So Lennon didn't actually serve any ban for his attempted assault? What a disgrace. He did serve it according to the rules - it was just served concurrently due to to McBride's input. Another breach in the next two years will see him receive an automatic 6 match ban though IIRC.
ian1964 10,761
He needs to watch his future conduct 4.0 Suspensions 4.1 Unless the report from the match official is appealed by the club official, the following level of suspensions will automatically apply dependent upon the disciplinary record of the club official over the determining period (i.e. the current and preceding two seasons): First report of misconduct : 2 match suspension from Technical Area etc. Second report of misconduct : 4 match suspension from Technical Area etc. Third report of misconduct : 6 match suspension from Technical Area etc. http://www.scottishfa.co.uk/resources/documents/Disciplinary/DisciplineExplained/DisciplinaryProcedures/2%20DP-Club%20Officials%20%28July%202010%29.pdf

How can you serve a ban when you don't miss any additional games? I'm surprised that they didn't ask for all 4 games to be served concurrently as well.
Frankie 8,665
Of course morally he didn't but as far as the SFA rules are, he did serve it unfortunately. No problems with sporting integrity there for Lawwell et al.
Bluedell 5,679
Do the rules say that bans have to be served concurrently? What was the wording that allowed them to get away with it? Or was it just that the ban should start immediately?

They definitely took advantage of the wording though which goes against their 'moral' principles.
Zappa 0
He initially got a 6 match ban, appealed it and got it reduced to 4. After only serving 1 of the 4 match ban he got another 4 match ban and McBride convinced the SFA that according to the wording in their rules the two 4 match bans should run concurrently, in otherwords that they should overlap. The outcome is that after being given bans amounting to 10 matches, Lennon only served a 5 match ban. It's worth noting that Eric Riley, while a director at both Celtic and the SFA, was actually THE Chairman of the committee which overhauled the disciplinary rules back in 2007. This a point which Gordon Smith made public knowledge a year ago when Celtic were challenging the SFA over a Broonaldo red card appeal.
