Arsenal finally sign a keeper

Recommended Posts

his fuck ups are more to do with him being a bit mental rather than his keeping ability unlike almunia.

In that case, Arsenal should be signing less mental GKs. They need someone who can keep their head and do what he needs to do.

Lehmann should be starting from now on. Almunia at it again and at fault for 2nd West brom goal...ridiculously coming out of his area. He is capable of costing Arsenal the title, his last league game was the 3-2 West Brom game at Emirates.

Lehmann, regardless of his antics, is the best fit keeper Arsenal have. Almunia isnt even a bombscare - he has already exploded. Calamity. He was about 25 yards out of goal, Squillaci had it covered but made a meal of it (partly thanks to Almunia's interference) and Koscielny was tracking back - Almunia had absolutely no need to be where he was.

In simplistic terms you can say that the GK position will win and lose this league - Man U have van der Sar who is like a Goram in that he will save you double digit figures in a season. Arsenal have Almunia who will cost you double digit figures in a season.

Why Wenger has continued to ignore this problem position is beyond me. The young lad (Czeszny or however it is spelt) is a very good talent but it says something when a team of Arsenal's stature have their best GK being a 20 yr old who only made his 1st team debut this season. You need TWO decent keepers these days.

Wenger should have snapped up Given in January or even went for McGregor - with Arsenal being financially well run McGregor would be a snip for them at 5 million (I am sure we would accept that amount).
