Bartley - our best defender

Recommended Posts

Bougherra's form remains patchy, enough has been said about Weir, Papac remains adequate, and Whittaker is ropey at best.

Bartley looks a class above the lot of them and should be in from the start as a first pick in defence. Above Weir. Could be that Weir's poor season has affected Bougherra's.

If we can get him on loan for another year next season as that would be good. Not sure if he would be able to displace the likes of Koscielny, Vermaelen, Squillaci and Djourou at Arsenal at the moment.

I can see Squillaci being sold but Wenger will probably bring in another CB ie Cahill.

Would he? Vermaelen is on the treatment table all the time, probably Arsenals best defender though and Wenger only bought Squillaci this season.

I thought Bougherra played very well last night actually.

Me too apart from their goal, which Bougherra should have got a head on. He was slow to react and made the wrong decision because the right decision would have been to throw himself at that ball and clear it with his head.
