I think one thing the team is lacking at the moment is a "talisman", someone who is on fire form-wsie and who lifts the rest of the team which also giving them an "out" when they are under pressure; someone to pass to who will do something, if only hold the ball up and keep possession - or create a goal which lifts the pressure on the team. Someone who can turn the game with the slightest opportunity.

The player I'll remember the most and best for this is Laudrup, and it's sad we may never see anyone like him again. The last guy who came the closest this season was actually Kenny Miller, who was in the most amazing form of his life. He was balancing up all those near misses of the past with near bulls eyes every week and his goals gave the team the breathing space they needed to relax and play - and he would chase a hopeful long ball and often win it when nothing else was on.

I think there's no surprise that we haven't been the same team since he left - we desperately need someone to take up that mantle. Preferably more than one.

Exactly Cal and I think, personally speaking anyway, that's why I've been so disappointed with Davis (and to a lesser extent Bougherra).

These guys have been talismans in previous seasons but have not turned up yet this year. There is still time so I hope they start to show what they're capable of this evening!

I think you're right about those two and the latter reminds me of what Cuellar brought to the team a few seasons ago.

“I haven't really hit the heights that I have done in previous years and I think there is definitely more to come from me,”

Well, at least he admits it, now for him to finally start htting some form.

Calscot is right. Miller would chase balls down but was classed as a headless chicken for doing so. It was the wrong decision to let him go and could end up being more costly than the fee we got for him as we are now the ones doing the chasing.

Im hoping Diouf can step up and be the one who gives everyone a lift. Was impressive in his first few games but needs to get better.
