I think Advocaat wanted funds but he was given an open cheque book by Murray, who in turn thought we would be raking in the money from Sky.

Let's be perfectly honest about this. You can only spend what you have to spend. Dick Advocaat had no authority to spend a penny at Rangers, except that which was authorized by Murray. The idea that Advocaat had the authority to make a single spending decision is absurd.

One things for sure: The spending in the Advocaat era was total insanity. I noticed a post from someone on the forum the other day saying that we haven't had a truly great team since the one Advocaat built, but at the end of the day, while that was probably correct and it was a fantastic team, it was also a team that we couldn't actually afford and it put is into HUGE debt.

Very scatter gun statement mate , you,ve just described the vast majority of club managers anywhere , no manager will turn down money , and he gave this bear the best style of football I have ever watched from a Rangers team ever , and but for the Mols injury , god knows where we may have ended or achieved

Maybe that is the problem. A manager should not only have to pick the team but also have to balance the books. Scatter gun? No! just a knowledge of that money hungry little runt.
