McCulloch - To have operation next week

Recommended Posts

Sadly some will actually be glad that he is out, without any consideration for the fact that we have a threadbare squad as it is.

Time for Edu & Davis to step up to the plate in his absence. I say those two because no-one can fault Jamie Ness's effort thus far.

I dont think we are weakened from a starting XI perspective - we can still play 4 or 5 midfielders who should be sufficient.

:ehd: :sd: :me: :jn: :vw:

And we still have :sn: to consider plus :gw: will hopefully get some further game time this season

FFs man i feel like i have a second shadow with your lurking about.

It's an internet forum where people can post up their opinions. I've contributed to this thread from the start. Intact, I started the thread!

No huge loss that he's out for the season but we'll miss him in the games where sides try to kick us off the park.

Here's hoping he's ready to go for next season.

Totti, Jig plated his part in our UEFA cup run in 2008 no matter how insignificant you think it was.

Sure is, which isn't exactly a disaster but it does weaken us even more. This sort of thing is what will likely screw us in the end.

I've said all season that our squad's the biggest threat to retaining our title.

For the time being however, I will take the positive outlook and look on this as a chance for the team to be more fluent. For that to work though, Davis needs to get his finger out and Edu to find some form.

Dissappointed to wake up this morning to the news Jig is out for the season. We dont have the numbers in our squad to cope with too many players being out for prolonged periods. With games coming up, I fear this will come to bite us hard.

My midfield:

:am:

:sw::dw::mb::sp:

:jn:

:ehd::me::sn:

:vw:

:nj:

Midfield anchormen don't need to be bruisers like JIG, they just need to read the game right and keep it simple. Good range of passing is also important and in young Ness we have that luxury.

Wonder who will be the next unfortunate player to get OTT abuse completely unrelated to his level of performance?

Whittaker looks like an early contender. Not saying he's been brilliant, but once the target has been picked people go after them mercilessly completely ignoring how the play in any individual game and claiming they always play in the manner that reflects there own staunch view of the individual.

Maurice Ross

Charlie Adam

Alan Hutton

Barry Ferguson

Lee McCulloch

Not a terrible list of players (possibly Ross excepted :D). Yet you'd think it was from reading a Rangers MB over the years.

It should be said that while he's likely to be out for a good while, it's not by any means certain how long for (despite what shite newspapers like the Daily Mail would have you believe!). Apparently scans have revealed a cyst on his left knee, requiring surgery, but the club haven't confirmed the extent of the problem or how long Jig might be sidelined. Depending on the extent of the surgery and the recommended recovery period, there's every chance that a fighter like McCulloch could be back in action well before the end of the season. There's 13 or 14 weeks till the end of the season and nothing conclusive yet to say that Jig can't get back to a decent level of fitness inside 7 or 8 weeks. I'll wait to hear what the official prognosis is before ruling him out for the season.

Like too many, you're determined to find something that just isn't there, something to hang your emotions on. The simple fact is that players who turn in dreadful performances on a regular basis get criticized, that's all, where's the problem? There is no witch hunt against players for other reasons. The proof you're wrong lies in the speed with which under performing players always recover the support of their detractors as soon as they start playing well again .. Alan Hutton being a perfect example from your list.

The boring truth is that fans almost always criticize play, not players. Whittaker IS playing very poorly on a regular basis and his play deserves to be criticised. Charlie Adam may be the darling of the EPL but his form before leaving Rangers was two notches south of shite and he also deserved all the stick he got. By the same token, I've never seen a previously unpopular player fail to recover his popularity as soon as he performed well. Rangers fans respond to the form of their players, not the other way around.

Of course, those who have previously worn the green and grey should have no place at Rangers and deserve all the shit they get, independent of form.
