McCulloch - To have operation next week

Recommended Posts

Add in two titles, a close third, a run to the UEFA Cup final with some decent stuff in Europe generally (including away wins in Lyon and Lisbon) and being in contention again this season for 4 trophies; the argument against not playing McCulloch - who has been a mainstay in the team throughout these relative successes - isn't a very strong one.

Again, nobody is suggesting McCulloch is a great player or essential to the team. However, to suggest he hasn't contributed (or is useless) is somewhat overly negative and not really worth debating when one looks at the facts.

That's the only sensible way to see it really. The problem with over the top criticism of players like McCulloch is that it inevitably ends up being entirely self-defeating. To suggest McCulloch makes no useful contribution, simply as a means of expressing frustration at what we might see as his lack of certain qualities, is patent nonsense. Of course he makes an entirely positive contribution .... whether another player in his place might make a greater contribution is another matter altogether and in the circumstances, purely academic. But to suggest he makes no useful contribution is to indulge in wind-pissing.

Ok so he is world class then, seems i just cant see it.

With views like this no wonder there is only 10 people on this site.

I dare say we'd survive just fine with nine if you find intelligent debate too taxing.

So if more of us criticised McCulloch, we'd have more traffic on the site? :D

You've an opinion on a player, some of us disagree. That's what it's about. It'd be a boring site if we all agreed on everything. :)

Spot on mate, seems to me that only you could work that out. Some others just take the normal football forum way of telling people to get lost or the classic your not intelligent enough for this site.

1. You make point about McCulloch having never played well for us.

2. Others show that is patently untrue.

3. Instead of responding to disagree, you make a sarcastic, generic and flawed comment about opinions of McCulloch.

4. You then further dismiss the facts put to you, in favour of a childish dig at the size of the forum you regularly use.

With respect, I urge you to rethink your style as it's clearly not one which will win you many friends.

Ok mate but i'm not sad enough to worry about making friends on an internet forum, only here for the football.

As are most of us but it helps if we can debate in a friendly fashion without people throwing their toys out of the pram when they're proven to be wrong.

Now, back on topic please.

But you still call him 'mate'?

You're annoying me now by pretending that you're the one being victimised here.
