metlika 0
Also the Blackpool chairman is being very petty according to the BBC live text. Not answering Liverpool's calls about Adam. Apparently, Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston is refusing to answer calls from Liverpool about the Scotland midfielder... maybe that United story started when Kenny Dalglish phoned up pretending to be Sir Alex Ferguson instead?

metlika 0
So Carroll did go, nice calendar pic for the Newcastle fans http://i51.tinypic.com/ws2p07.jpg He needs a haircut as well.
juffery 0
I think Carroll will go on and develop into a fantastic player, but like Gav said, he's just unproven. He's had six months in the premiership, that's it. If you're gonna pay so much, get someone with a reputation - Darren Bent was half that, but he's got the stats to back it up. Crazy, panic buying. What if they had signed Carroll and Suarez and Torres decided he wasn't happy going to Chelsea :-)
Gribz 919
35 million upfront plus add ons is a lot but I like the look of Carroll. he reminds me of a cross between Duncan Ferguson and Dado Prso. He has strength of Ferguson and work rate of Prso. Considering liverpool only spent 7 million on Suarez and Carroll after the Torres cash its not a bad way to look at it, those 2 can get as much goals together as Torres would.
metlika 0
Liverpool only spent about £4m as they sold Babbel. Not bad considering they spent £58m and got £54m back. Chelsea are walking a tight rope imo like Man City with Uefa after their spend, £71m on 2 players on the final day, unreal.
juffery 0
Would I be right saying that United spent about £10 million less on signing Rooney? Surely he appeared to have much more potential and much more of an established reputation at the time?
Totti 0
What has saved Liverpool here is they actually got a not bad fee for Suarez. He's a much better and more proven player than Carroll. It says it all that a player who starred in the world cup and has been one of the top prospects in world football for years is worth considerably less than a guy who has scored some goals in the EPL in 6 months and last season wasn't even close to being top scorer in the championship. Oh AND Carroll is currently injured! Carroll does look a decent striker but this is just typical English football. The move and hype will probably go to his head and he might struggle. Liverpool also have a pretty rotten midfield IMO. Carroll is a target man whose main strength is headers but Liverpool lack a winger Edited February 1, 2011 by Totti
